(Killian's POV)
The first thing I see is a mess of blonde hair. During the night we must've rolled over, for I look down to see Emma snuggled up on my chest with a faint smile on her lips while she sleeps. I smile remembering the night before. My eyes wander to the clock and then drastically widen. Bloody hell, why didn't the blasted alarm clock go off?!

Despite how peaceful she looks, I try to wake up Emma. "Emma, love, wake up," I say. With a groan she opens her eyes. "We're going to be late for school." She looks at the clock and jumps up, suddenly very much awake.

"Crap, what the hell happened to the alarm clock?!" She asks as she climbs out of bed.

"That's what I was thinking," I say. She hurried into the bathroom and I sigh and fall back onto the bed. We couldn't have one morning to ourselves, could we? Bloody school ruins everything. I procrastinate getting out of bed when my mind begins to conjure up negative thoughts. Does she regret last night? Is she going to avoid me again?

To get rid of the nasty thoughts, I leave the comfort the bed provided me and grab my clothes. Moments later Emma emerges from the bathroom, rushing to get everything ready. I saunter into the bathroom and back out a few minutes later. Emma is rushing around the room gathering her things when she spots me.

"How are you so calm right now?" she asks.

"It's just school, I don't see a big deal in being late."

"Well I do." She slings on her backpack and waits for me to find mine. We both head off to school, Emma walking at a more brisk pace than I.

"Swan you have to relax." She looks at me like I'm insane and I sigh. "How about me make this more fun?" She gives me an exhausted look but urges me to continue. "First one to the school has to buy the other lunch."

"But we share money," she asks confused.

"Well we can't have a race with no reward now, can we?" She thinks it over before smiling.

"You're on, Jones." And just like that we're both sprinting off to school. We're both neck and neck the whole way there, neither one of us slowing down. The school comes into sight and I pick up speed. So does she. I'm in the lead as we near the door but she beats me climbing up the stairs to the entrance and makes it to the door first. I hang my head in defeat.

"Ha! Eat that, Jones," she smiles triumphantly. I roll my eyes.

"Yeah yeah whatever," I mumble as we both catch our breaths. We open the doors and speed walk to our first period classes. Unfortunately, today, we don't have that class together. So as she stops at her class I yell over my shoulder, "See you in math!" I enter the class I'm in--Biology--which Emily is also in. The teacher, Mr. Anders, does not look too pleased at my interruption and my tardiness.

"Mr. Jones, how nice of you to finally join us," he says, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Well I figured it wouldn't be as fun of a class without me in it," I retort with an off putting smile.

"Take a seat before I make you regret coming," he says with a glare.

"Beat you to it," I mutter. His glare followed me until I was in my seat beside Emily. Mr. Anders gets back to his lesson but makes sure to throw a glare my way every once in a while. How generous, I thought.

"Are you trying to get detention?" Emily asks in a whisper.

"Not even that could kill my mood today," I say with a smile, feeding to her curiosity but I leave it at that, knowing she didn't want to get herself in trouble. When class ended Emily pestered me with questions but I just answered them vaguely, leaving it as a mystery as I headed off to math.
