(Rose's POV)

It wasn't until three weeks passed that I was able to go back to school. I now had to carry an oxygen pack and have it going at all times.
Whenever I walked through the halls, everyone just stared. May had to carry my backpack, since I couldn't get it tangled in my nasal oxygen cord.
The only good thing was that my hair was growing back. And quick, too. It was short, but hey, it's hair.

Once we got back to Mark's house, I sat on the patio bench for a while until Mark came outside.

"Babe?" Mark asked.
"Yeah?"
"You okay?"
"Yeah... I'm just deep in thought."
"...Do you know what this reminds me of?" He smiled.
"Hm?"
"The Fault in Our Stars. You're like Hazel and I'm like Gus."
"Minus the cancer..."
"Yeah, but they loved each other. You wanna watch that movie? I have some pre-made videos I can post."
"I would... But I'm not in the mood right now. Do you mind if I draw instead?"
"Sure. Can I watch?"
"I guess so."

And I began to draw. I ended up painting. It took four hours. Mark just watched silently. This is what I ended up making:

Mark just stared at me when I finished. Hell, he stared the entire time I was drawing.

"Wow," he gasped. "How can you draw so well?!"
"As I said before, art's my escape..."

He just smiled and kissed my forehead. Thomas had to come get us for supper. As we sat down, they began asking why we were outside for so long.

"I wanted some fresh air, for one," Mark replied. "Two, I was watching Rose draw."
"You draw," his mom asked.
"Yes," I answered.
"Can we see?" Thomas smiled.

I opened my sketchbook and slid it over towards Thomas's and his mom's side of the table. Their eyes went wide when they looked at it.

"Wow!" Thomas smiled. "This is awesome! I can't draw for shit!"
"You should enter this in the art contest at the annual state fair, Rose," his mom grinned.

Mark beamed at that. He agreed with her.

"Yeah! You should," Mark smiled. "If you're in the top three, you get a free ride art scholarship at the Art Institute for however long of your choice, and a ton of prize money! What was the amount for the places again, Mom?"
"Uh, third is $1,000, second is $5,000, and first is $10,000. Since it's statewide, it's a higher amount."

I thought about it... The last time I'd ever entered an art contest was in the sixth grade, and I got second place. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea...

(Mark's POV)

As we reached the fairgrounds, I saw Rose's face light up. We went to go put her picture on display and went to go have fun.

First, we went to the shooting range, where she won. I was a little heated about that, but she did give me a fluffy doggo plush from it~❤. The next one was the basketball thing. I won and got her a cute cat plush.
After a few more games, we got on some rides. We decided no roller coaster because of her oxygen pack. Instead, we did bumper cars, the tunnel of love~❤, and, of course, the Ferris Wheel.
We actually stopped at the top. I went to kiss her, until fireworks began going off. They were beautiful, and I took my chance. We kissed on the Ferris wheel. Check that off on my bucket list. I went to kiss her again... until I felt the entire thing begin to shake.
People below us were screaming. Please tell me it didn't break... I looked down to see smoke coming from the gears. Before I could really notice, I felt our little both begin to shake a little violently. I saw she had her oxygen tank/bag on her back and yelled,

"Grab my hand!!"

She did so just as the bar broke. We slipped out, and I grabbed the footrest just in time. It was hurting to do this, because the metal was cutting my hand. I swung Rose to a nearby pole, that way I could get to one myself.

As soon as I did, I looked at my hand. It was bleeding, and bad. The cut was deep.
After we got off, thankfully, I was put in a ambulance. I got a tetanus shot and my hand got stitches. As I got out, I looked for Rose and my family. I found Mom and Thomas, but not Rose.

"Tom? Mom? Have you seen Rose at all," I asked.
"She was just right here a second ago," Thomas replied.

I asked the fair personnel to pull up the cameras. I saw Rose standing by Thomas, then get pulled back into the shadows. Someone took her.
I called Felix, Jack, Bob, Wade, Marzia, Signe, Cry, Ken, Team Edge (Matthias, J-Fred, and Bryan), and Tyler. All of them, plus Thomas, promised to meet at my house within two hours, ready to find her.

Apparently, Ethan had gone missing as well. I now remembered that he was also a neko, which explains. A lot of Neko kids have gone missing in the last few years. I just hoped that both of them were safe and sound...
Whoever had them was about to get the shit beaten out of them. I promised myself that I'd protect Rose. I was gonna keep that promise...
