Chapter 4: Finally Together

(Rose's POV)

Mark hugged me tightly as I finished telling him what happened. I began to cry, because this is what I wanted all along. To be in his arms...

"Mark," I began, tears falling down my face.
"Yes?"
"I know this may not be the best time... But..."
"Let me guess... You want to be my girlfriend?"
"Yeah..."
"I was about to ask the same thing, Rose... And don't you worry. I'll take care of Felix."

He finally stopped hugging me and wiped away my tears. He then began to pet my hair and run his fingers over my ears, making me purr again... Then, my family walked in.

"Felix, can you and I talk for a sec," Mark asked.
"Sure, bro," Felix smiled.

(Mark's POV)

As Felix and I walked out of the room, I began talking.

"Look..." I sighed. "Me and Rose... want to ask you something."
"Anything, man. What is it?"
"We, uh... W-We want to be together..."

He just stared at me. I guess he didn't believe me. Either that or he thought it was weird for a human and Neko to date. I didn't. She was beautiful.

"Are you for real, bro?" He asked. "Or are you kidding around with me?"
"I'm not kidding."
"Well, fuckin' finally! I've been wanting you two to be together for the last year!! She always told me about how much she loved you. She said that she wanted to be with you since she first met you!! Then, there was you always staring at her, so I just knew you liked her too."
"Really?"
"Yeah! My parents even wanted it to happen! Well, my mom, anyway. Dad's kinda overprotective, since female nekos are rare here..."
"So... is that a yes?"
"Hell yeah, man!"

I walked back in and say on the side of Rose's bed. She looked at Felix and he nodded. She smiled and looked at me with an even bigger smile.
Then a nurse came in and said she could go home. We got her things and she rode with me, Felix, and Jack.

"But Mark," Felix began. "If you hurt her, I will take my happy ass too your house and strangle the life outta you."
"You know I wouldn't hurt her, Felix. I'm not like that."
"I know, but I'm just warning you. You may be my best friend-"

Jack cleared his throat.

"-Okay, okay. You may be one of my best friends, but she comes first, bro."
"I know, Felix."

After we got back to Felix's house, me and Rose went to her room to talk.

"Well," I sighed. "What's up?"

Her ears drooped. She was worried about something, was my guess.

"That's what I was worried about... Felix getting onto you. He did that with my past boyfriend. I hope he doesn't run you off."
"We're best friends, so he wouldn't do that."
"Still..."

Okay, she needed something to calm her down. So I kissed her. She stopped babbling about Felix and him running me off. She instantly fell under my kiss. I finally stopped.

"Better?" I asked, smiling.
"Y-Yeah... Thanks."

I just smiled. I could get used to this...

The next day at school...

At lunch, everyone stared at us as I had my arm around Rose. Some smiled, others got jealous, and some shot dirty looks. I knew all the cheerleaders were jealous, because all of them have tried to seduce me before. I always had Felix and Jack to help me get out of that. Then, that's when one of them came over.

"Who's this neko bitch," Kathleen, the head cheerleader, scoffed.
"Uh, she's my girlfriend," I replied sternly. "And I suggest you don't call her a bitch, Kathleen. And don't make fun of her for being a Neko. I personally think she's really cute. But I'm not gonna have your shit like last year."
"So, you just dropped all of the hottest girls in school for this  fucking Neko slut?"
"She is not a slut, Kathleen."
"Then why did Felix say she had sex with Jason?"
"That's not true. He did that against her will, so I suggest you get your facts straight. And, go the fuck away, Kathleen. Neither one of us wanted to deal with your shit."
"I-"

Felix and Jack sat down.

"What's going on here," Felix asked.
"She's trying to say that your sister's a slut, which she is not. Because Kathleen, she's more gorgeous than all of you cheerleaders put together."

Felix cleared his throat. He was talking about Marzia.

"Besides Marzia."
"Boy, please," Kathleen laughed. "At least I don't look like I've been hit by a truck."

I stood up and went to yell at her, but Jack stopped me and told me it wasn't worth it. I sat down as we tried to enjoy the rest of our lunch.

After swim practice...

I went to go pick Rose up last, since Felix and Jack said they got out of practice an hour early for winning their game last night.

We got out and began to look for Rose. It wasn't until five minutes that we heard yelling. Marzia was running towards us.

"Marzia," Felix gasped. "What the hell is going on?!"
"It's Rose! C'mon," She replied.

We began running with her to where a fight was going on. Several cheerleaders were hurting Rose!! She was being kicked, punched, and having her hair/ears pulled.
I ran into the middle of it and pushed away all the cheerleaders. I got hit several times in the process. By the time I got Rose in my arms, the principals came out.
At this point, me and Rose were covered in blood and bruises. All the cheerleaders got suspended, except for Kathleen, of course. Even Marzia did, and she didn't even do anything!
Once we got back to Felix's house, I began to clean up Rose's wounds.

"M-Mark, stop," she stuttered. "Y-You're wounded w-worse than I am."
"Bullshit," I replied.

She gave up and allowed me to clean the rest of her wounds. Afterwards, I got her to lay down and rest. Then, Felix called me to his room.

"Listen, bro," he smiled. "What you did today? That took some real fucking courage. Now I know you're for real about this relationship. I will never forget this, man. "
"Thanks, Felix..."
