A tender touch of soft lips brushed over mine and I helplessly watched as mine moved in sync with his.
I cautiously laid down on my bed, unaware of what his plans for me were. Moving my hair behind my neck I shut my eyes.
I didn't know what I wanted but at that moment I wanted him. I was longing for his touch, and he was there, ready to fulfil all my sexual desires.
But didn't Brandon do that earlier?
My insides craved his touch. I craved his touch. As soon as his moist, plump lips imprinted my neck, I lost all rational thought. I was just consumed by the thought of him on me.
I was amazed at how one touch of his lips could hitch my breath. His cold hand caressed my sides making me freeze, his face came closer to mine and he kissed my cheek. Moving to my ear, I started breathing faster at the feeling of his breath tickle my sweet spot, and then my eyes widened at his words.
"You're dead."
I couldn't control my legs that pushed him to the ground. Holding a pillow up to defense myself, I watched him sit with a smile on his face, "you're dead."
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice was shaking. "It means you'll lose all consciousness for days then be reincarnated, like all of us."
I threw the pillow and watched it successfully hit his face, "I'm alive!"
Jumping off of the bed, I ran as fast as humanly possible. As Jace started getting up, I made it to the closed door and bumped into it because my stupid self thought I was a ghost.
He's almost one foot away from me, standing with his hands in his pockets. I unlocked the door with trembling hands and ran.
I didn't look back but I was hearing his steps. I'm not a slow runner but compared to Jace, I'm slow.
When I got to the ground floor, almost close to the entrance, he grabbed my shoulder.
I shoved his hand away and quickly grabbed a lamp that was close. I threw it and successfully hit his face making him drop to the ground once again.
I jumped on top of his lying body to pin him to the floor. At first, he tried to push me away and pull himself up but then he stopped.
I saw hurt in his eyes as he stared back at me, chest rising and falling with every heavy breath he took. He was bleeding from a wound over his eyebrow and one on his cheek right under the eye.
"You shouldn't leave the house."
And because he said I shouldn't, I will. I jumped on my feet and ran outside as fast as I could.
The forest welcomed me and I worked my way along the narrow trail, leaves sliding across my bare forearms like wet tongues. Dark tree trunks, shadows, overhanging limbs across the path that I could only see at the last second and barely visible black trails snaking through the undergrowth.
The moon shone through a lattice of leaves hardly illuminating the way. Looking at the sky, the stars were seen in glimpses through tree breaks.
The wind slipped through the leaves and the cracking undergrowth with each step I took made me regret my decision of running away. But there was no turning back now.
Jace may kill me –if I'm not dead already – I can't trust him anymore. He's mad.
I dove behind a wide cedar trunk just off the trail. Heart slamming against my ribs, I gulped at the air, trying to slow my breathing enough to hear the footsteps around.
I'm not alone!
Tears ran on my cheeks and I pushed my hand on my mouth to prevent the sobs, I don't know what's waiting for me around and I can't risk making the smallest sound and getting its attention.
"You're dead" Jace's voice replayed in my head making it harder to stay calm.
"Who's there?" A female's voice yelled out. It was obvious how scared she was, probably more scared than me. Feeling a bit safer, I let out a breath, "who are you?" I asked.
"Please," she sobbed, "don't kill me."
What?
"Why would I kill you?" I questioned walking out of my safe place. Dressed in a white and red gown, she was on her knees with her face in her hands and bright orange hair covering her shoulders.
It was until I came closer that I realised that it was blood covering the white cloth. "Who did that to you?" I furrowed my eyebrows looking at her.
Her green eyes met mine and it wasn't long until she screamed in terror and crawled back.
"I'm not going to hurt you," I said trying to reassure her but she was too terrified to listen. "I'm running away too, I'm as scared as you are." I explained but she kept screaming.
"You're one of them!"
