Lily's POV

-----------------

We pulled up in my grandparents driveway with horses running past and with us in the green pastures. I was so excited to finally see them after all this time. I had missed them so much it wasn't even funny.

I jumped out of the pickup as soon as it came to a close stop. My grandparents rushed out the front door, with greying hair and blue eyes my Grandma gave me a tight hug as my Grandpa stared down John Luke.

I smile and rush over to my Grandpa as Emma pulls up with Cole. I gave my Grandpa a huge hug and he said "Hey kiddo," with a smile that kinda squinted his eyes. Emma jumped out of the pickup and ran to Grandma as Cole slowly and unsurely got out.

Emma hugged Grandma talking to her and Grandpa swung his arm around my shoulders as we walked over to John Luke. Grandpa started to scowl at him as he started to bite his lip.

"Who the hell is this? And who the hell is he?" my Grandpa asked roughly. "Calvin!!!! These are the boys that the girls were bringing out!" my Grandma shrieked.

"Oh yeah thats right, sorry Charrolette, sorry girls." By this time Amy and Reed had arrived and Grandpa said, " Were do these guys keep coming from?!?!"

"Louisiana,Papa." I said smiling.Grandma shot him a look and I laughed. He shook his head and yelled "Luke!!!! Get over here and put these horses in the barn. A handsome guy came running over. "Yes sir," he said before going to the trailer.

Emma's POV

----------------------

Wow!!!!This Luke guy was really hot. He has black hair, blue eyes, boots and a tan. Everything I could ask for. I did like a Katniss move and said "I'll help, my horse doesn't like to listen." when I really meant, ' I volunteer, Kiss me you fool!!!' he nodded his head and we walked over to the trailer.

I unloaded Winter and Luke took Midnight and Dox. We walked to the barn as everyone else walked in the house. "So..." he trailed off. "So..." I copied him and he grinned. "Were are you from?" he asked "South Dakota,You?" I asked back. "Texas," he said.

Hmmm maybe that's why he was so cute. We were at the barn and I saw Winters mom in a stall. She nickered at him and he nickered back. I rubbed her nose and she neighed. I shushed her and she quieted down. Luke had been watching me the whole time,

"You're good with horses aren't you?" he questioned. "Yeah why else would I have a horse?" I shot back. He shrugged and I smile.

We put the horses in the stalls and I made sure that Winter was good before I started walking to the house. Luke ran up to my side, settled into my stride and asked, " You want to come to the horse races tomorrow?" I nodded my head and said "I'm a racing fanatic." He nodded his head, "Good." I shook my head and said, "Beat you to the house," before taking off.

He laughed and I heard his footsteps behind me. I reached the house maybe a second before he did and I gloated, "Haha, I beat." He stuck his tongue out at me as he walked in after knocking on the door.

I pulled my boots off and left them in the mud room. I walked in to see everyone sat down at the table including Luke. I can see why my Grandpa liked him, he was really polite and respectful, which he thought this generation lacked.

I sat down in the only available spot, in between Luke and Cole. Cole was talking to my Grandma and I started to talk with Grandpa. "So, Grandpa, are you racing any horses tomorrow?" I ask.

He nods his head as he chews, wiping his face with his napkin. "Yeah Barbaro Lea and Dancer's War." he says. I nod those are good racers.

"You going to ride them Emma?" he asked "I will if you want me to." I replied. He chuckled and said, "That's my girl."

The next day

--------------------

Today was the races, I grabbed my purse, throwing my sunglasses, money, and phone into it.

I walked over to the bathroom. I took a shower, brushed my teeth and hair, I pulled my hair up tight into a bun, just in case Grandpa did want me to ride.

I ran downstairs to the kitchen were my Grandma was cooking. I grabbed a piece of bacon, kissed her on the cheek before I thanked her. I ran out to the barn were Luke and Grandpa were loading up three horses.

Two were racing and the third was the one Luke was going to use to lead the racers around the track. I helped them load one of the feistier ones and we were off.

I was in the back seat as my Grandpa drove. "So do I ride today,Grandpa?" I asked, leaning over the seat. "I suppose so,"He said.

"Thank you Grandpa."I said excited. It had been forever since I had rode on the track. Luke smiled at me, and I grinned back. We arrived at the racetrack.

We unloaded the horses into the paddock. The rest of the family came and Lily got ready to lead the horses. I looked around and saw more people that I knew, I have way to many friends.

I walked over to say Hi and talk. I waved bye as I went to see the horses for the next race. They all were very good from their records. I watched how they moved and went to place a winning bet for $20 on number 5.

The race began and the whole crowd raised as one. The noise was very, very loud. I loved that about the races.

Number 5 and 4 were battling for first and #5 clearly came in first but they called for a photo finish. They decided #5 won but the owner of #4 objected, a man sitting behind me yelled "BULLSHIT."

I grinned, you could tell that he was a little drunk. The objection was rejected and #5 won. I yelled and went to collect my money I won. The next race I was racing.

I was a little nervous but shrugged it off. I looked at my competition. They were nowhere near were they needed to be. I was riding Barbaro Lea for five furlongs, all the way around the track.

After Lily walked Lea around a couple times she brought her to us which consisted of Luke Grandpa and me. We saddled her, and I got on.

I waited for the person to come lead me. That person turned out to be Luke. "Don't be nervous you'll do fine," he told me. "I'm not nervous like, at all." I shot back and he nodded,

"Good." I shook my head and we trotted around the track. I loaded into the gates and the bell ran. Lea jumped forward and I leaned forward.

We were in the middle of the pack but there was still a lot of race left. The leaders were tiring and I took the opening. We shot through two horses and I pushed Lea past the second place, I rushed up to the bay horse by my side. I had a few furlongs before the finish line. I pushed Lea harder and she jumped out past the leader.

I stretch her out as she pasted the finish line. My group came running out cheering. I smiled and patted Lea's neck "Good girl," I cooed. We took a picture and I slipped off. Luke picked me up, hugging me while spinning around. He finally set me down and smiled at me.

We walked up to collect the purse. Grandpa gave some of it to me and I shook my head. I gave it back to him without saying a word.

He frowned but took it silently.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Author's note                                                                                                                                                              Sorry I changed the picture, but that's Luke.
