Caroline let Matt guide her down the hallway. She wobbled a bit on her bloody legs but forced herself to continue moving. "Move it!" He ordered behind her as they passed a woman who stared curiously. He had to act like she was any other prisoner. The woman approached Matt. "What in heavens name are you doing with that filthy beast?"
"I've been given orders to transport her to the East prison so they can continue questioning tomorrow."
"Very well. Make sure you keep that thing on a leash." She huffed and walked away.
"Keep moving."
They entered an elevator and went down to the lobby. Matt shoved her forwards as the doors opened. Many people were in the lobby. They all glanced at her and some even paused mid-sentence to stare. "Pick up the pace, dog."
She forced her already tired legs to walk faster until Matt took her to a blue pickup truck in the parking lot. She was outside! Free! "Get in, quick."
Caroline quickly got in and sighed in relief as she sat comfortably in the seat. Matt started the car and peeled off from the building. It looked like any other fancy building where you'd have CEOs talking about politics and economics all day. Except it was a dungeon for werewolves. It looked like they were in a nice city. "Can you take me home?"
"Of course."
Caroline did her best to guide him towards the beach house until they finally arrived. She got out of the car and began walking to the front door when she paused. Matt hadn't gotten out of the car. She waved him over and he quickly got out. "Uh, yeah?"
"Aren't you coming?"
"No. I helped you escape. Now you can move along. Goodluck. They'll come for you. For both of us."
Caroline went back up to Matt and hugged him. "You saved my life. Don't go."
"Er... Okay if you want."
"Great! Come inside, make yourself at home."
They both entered and Caroline immediately called Jasmine. "Hey, Jasmine."
"Oh my God! Caroline you're okay!"
"Yep. Where are you?"
"In town. We were looking for you all day. What happened?"
"Long story. Get home so I can explain."
She hung up and looked to Matt who stared out the window. "Matt?"
"Huh?"
"What's wrong?"
"I just did something I swore to never do many years ago. I helped a werewolf."
"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have pushed you into that."
"No! I mean... it's great! I was always so afraid. Now, I'm... strangely calm."
"Okay, well... I need to go shower. I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Will they come for you guys?" Mark asked.
"Definitely. But they don't even know where we are. So... that helps."
"Exactly." Caroline said.
Olivia sat up straight. "And what about the pack?"
"We can take care of that soon. For now we have to make sure we're safe." Caroline replied.
"Let's just rest for the rest of today and we can figure this out tomorrow." Isabella yawned.
"Agreed."
Everyone went to their rooms and Olivia plopped down on the couch, falling asleep in a heartbeat. How she did it? Caroline would never know.
She paused before she headed to her bedroom. "Matt, there's no other place to sleep but you can sleep in my room."
"Oh no. It's fine really. I can just um, stay up or something."
"Well, you can go home if you'd like but it probably isn't safe out there for either one of us."
"You're right. My apartment is literally right beside the WHO building. That's probably the first place they'd looked for me."
"I'm so sorry."
"Don't be. I'm happy to be here. I want to help you."
"If you say so. Caroline led him upstairs to her room. The bed was twin size but they might fit. She got in bed and rolled on her side to give him room. He got into the bed on the opposite side, their backs just an inch apart. "Thank you, Matt. I'd be dead by now if you hadn't saved me."
"You don't need to keep thanking me. I should be thanking you. For helping me to see the good in werewolves. I thought all of them were monsters. Turns out I was wrong."
Caroline smiled even though she knew he couldn't see her. "That means a lot to me."
"I'm glad I saved you despite what we're about to face."
"Let's talk about it tomorrow. Goodnight, Matt."
"Goodnight."
