I was sitting an empty classroom talking to my friends, throwing a football around, having a good time when a blood curling scream came from out in the hallway. My insides were twisting around uncomfortably, my gut telling me to run far far away and never come back. Which i just thought was something I ate.
"What was that?" Curtis asked stuttering more than usual. He had curly dirty brown hair and green glasses that sat upon his freckled nose. As we all eyed each other, with worried looks even then we could feel that something was wrong.
"I don't know but I'm going to check it out." I stated, running out the classroom despite my my instincts screaming not too, Davi and Curtis close behind. We took a shortcut through the boys bathroom. Walking through a strange smell filled the air making me nauseous. As I exited I felt a cold drop of liquid on my head causing me to halt. A soft pain entered my gut. It really wasn't a pain. It didn't hurt. Yet there was no other way to describe it. Then more drops fell on my head. I patted my deep brown hair. Looking at my fingertip. Red. Is this blood? My heart started to race.
So I slowly turned and backed up. But nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. On the lockers written bright red blood was the words "God save the prom queen" I gasped upon seeing this. What kind of monster would do such a thing. Panic filled me. Taking over everything it could. My heart was banging against my rib cage. Like it was trying to do the alien thing. I felt trapped in that spot and moment.
"Stop being flabbergasted and help me!" Carmen shouted, her familiar voice was comforting and frightening at the same time. I turned around to see Carmen kneeling on the floor push her coat down on something. She block my view of the "thing" with her shoulders.
Jamie was on the phone with someone that I assumed was the police from the "Yes officer" she was repeating over and over.Alice was on the ground in such a messy position it looked like she had fell. She looked completely out of it. She stared at the bloody lockers as tears rolled down her face. Her usual bright sapphire eyes were filled with a darkness making them come off as navy blue. Her long strawberry blonde hair stretched the end lying softly on the ground. Then Levi was just taking pictures with a camera. I started to feel the blood dripping down on to my face. I made no effort to stop it.
"This is just like a video game but in real life," Curtis exclaimed, he was sitting across the floor from Carmen. I couldn't see what was between them so I walked over to get a closer look. It was Yuki, a girl in our grade. Her wrists were slit and there was a crown made of blood drawn around her head.
"Don't just stand there, do something" Carmen yelled when she saw my staring at Yuki almost lifeless body. Honestly I felt quite useless. Seemed like everything had been covered. I turned to see Alice still just sitting there a mess of tears. I walked over to her. Maybe I can help at least one person.
"Are you ok?" No response. I waved my hand in front of her face. I could feel her warm breath, but no response not even blinking. I sat down next to her but suddenly her eyes shut and she fell backwards. Thanks to my instincts I caught her. Then set her down slowly and placed my two fingers under her chin to checked her pulse. She was breathing that was good. Was it the right amount, I had no idea.
"I'm going to take her back to the classroom." I proclaimed but nobody responded as they were all too busy. Which enforced the useless feeling. I picked Alice up and carried her into the classroom. The boys just stared at me probably wondering what happened. Or questions like ... Why am I carrying Alice? Is she dead? Why do is there blood on my hair and face? Wtf?
"So, how big was the spider?" Griffin joked.
"Oh shut up ,Griffin. What in the world just happened?" Jone questioned. I felt helpless. I couldn't possibly actually tell them.
"G-go see for yourself." I answered. They looked at each other and ran off. I looked down at Alice she was getting heavy. I set her down on the reading couch. She looked so peaceful. She was laying on her side in such a way it squished her cheek toward her eye. I checked her pulse again normal. When a cop came in.
"Hey kid!" She shouted making me jump. It made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I turned to see the cop. She glared not softening up.
"Go down to the office for questioning" She yelled. I did as I was told and went down, leaving Alice behind. I almost felt guilty for doing so.
