It was morning. Luckily for the grade eight, no one was attacked. I wish goals were higher. Or at least didn't evolve people getting hurt. But I can't change reality. No matter how much I wished I could.
I walked out of my room in my pjs. Morning are dreadful. We all reluctantly had to walk across a football field and basketball court in the cold fall wind. Just to get breakfast. No one liked this. But at least we didn't have to get are school uniforms on. It still seem inconvenient especially since at home you would just walk downstairs.
I looked around there were only a couple of kids in here. I must have woken up late.
All of a sudden I heard a voice. It stood out cause of the volume.
"come on Alice, you need breakfast."Jamie persistently shouted. There was pause. I guessed Alice was saying something. But it was to quiet to hear.
"you been barely sleeping and eating." Stated a bit quieter but still audible. I thought to myself for a moment. Had she not been eating or sleeping? Why'd I care?
I walked across the room to maybe intervene. As I came to the door way, Alice walked out. Mumbling .
"l barely ever eat or sleep." She walked right past me like I didn't even exist. I stared as she slowly stumbled away. She wore a tank top and pair of shorts that had micky mouse on them.Something just popped out. There were unusual symbols. They lined her back. There was one on left arm. It kind of looked like a bracelet. Though you could barely even see the ones on her back though her thick messy hair.
I ran up and tap her on the shoulder. She stood up straight like a bolt of lightning went through her. She kept walking. I walked next to her.
"So what are those symbols on your back?" I asked.
"scars."she responded I almost fell over at the response. Her voice was blank and emotionless. But I sensed pain. Maybe it was painful to think about for her. These weren't scars you got from falling over. I couldn't imagine a scenario on how she could get those scars. That wasn't illegal and extremely violent. The more I learned about her the more I felt obligated to protect her.
