Chapter 5

The Cold Always Bothered Me Anyways

Andrew

Finally. Spring is here. It only took like a whole season.

Let me just say for the record I hate winter. I hate the cold, and everything about it. I don't care if I'm the only one in my family who hates it either.

My family consists mostly of snow and ice powered people so for them winter is awesome. I didn't exactly get the "ice gene" (or whatever you want to call it) that runs throughout the family. Neither did Anastasia so I guess I'm not alone.

I may hate the cold, but if there's anything I learned from my brother, it's that ice and snow can be beautiful things. Don't get me wrong, I like ice and snow, but I hate the side effects that come with it like the cold.

While my whole family is all "The cold never bothered me anyways" I'm just here like "The cold ALWAYS bothered me anyways."

I haven't always hated the cold. When I was way younger, I didn't really care. It was an experience I had when I was young that ruined the cold for me.

"Hurry up bro! I want my turn too!"

Elson was being such a wuss for someone who had ice powers. Dad told us to go to the middle of the lake so he could show us some cool ice stuff (no pun intended).

"I'm trying not to fall in over here Andrew I'll only be a minute!" "A minute is WAY too long." Especially for someone who has ice powers, which I will once again point out.

"Andrew, you don't need to wait for Elson just start making your way to the middle I'll be right behind you the whole way." "Thanks Dad!"

I started to make my way to the middle but of course, Mr. Slowpoke was going one mph.

Ugh what are you so worried about Elson? Dad's right behind you and anyways, the cold water shouldn't matter to you, once again you have ice powers!

I couldn't take it anymore so I came up with an idea. I can jump high so I should just jump over Elson and meet him in the middle.

The minute I jumped I heard the ice crack. As soon as I know it I'm on top of Elson and we're falling into the lake.

"Oops."

If there's anything colder than a lake in the winter, I don't know what is. When my dad quickly lifted us out of the water, I headed home fast. I needed to get warm before I got frostbite all over my body.

Ever since that, I have hated the cold. I may seem paranoid, but I'm not. How would you feel about the cold if you fell into a nice and cold icy lake? I can tell you first hand, it sucks.

Believe it or not, Elson hates the ice business as much as I do. To be honest, I think Elson is just so focused on being on a soldier he tries to make it look like he hates it and wouldn't fit in another career.

I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm older, but it definitely won't have to do with winter or the cold.
