I mostly ignored the conversation between the three boys as we hiked through the forest. We came into contact with a pig once, but we were unable to kill it. Not that I feel like we could. To take something's life, it's just.... I could never do it. They fooled around instead of staying on task like me, but we eventually found out what we wanted. We are on an island. We also learned of other resources that we all can use and such. The boys all seem to think this is a game. We also made the agreement that the boys and girls will stay separate unless said otherwise and Jack's Hunters will be in charge of hunting pigs and in charge of the signal fire. There was also a young boy talking about a beast, probably a snake or one of those vines. I left when they got the idea to make the fire and disappeared into the forest. When I finally make it back to camp, we older girls hold a meeting of our own around our fire after the younger ones are long asleep. Hannah also gave me my sea glass back.

"So there's a group of boys—"

"Boys are —"

"They should stay away—"

"Hey everyone!"I yell getting everyone's attention. "We made a deal. We stick in our separate groups, I, along with four other older girls, which switches every time, will go meet up with them around the time the conch is blown. Then we'll come back and tell everyone else what's happened." There are murmurs of agreement. Then Hannah speaks up.

"I don't trust boys. I don't care where they've come from, they think everything is a game."

"They think this is a game," I say. "But I think the signal fire isn't that hard to keep track of, as for hunting, I was thinking that we can possibly send our own hunters out as well. If anyone here is willing to do that." Most look disgusted. I know that there minds will change as soon as we get tired of island food. Variety is always good, and getting sick of eating one of the few available foods is probably not a good idea. "But, something that must complete is shelters. We know where most of our resources are, so we can start building a few baskets out of palm fronds for food and make more shelters." Everyone agrees.

Suddenly Claire yells pointing, "What's that?!" I turn around, an entire area of the island has gone up in flames.

"You have got to be joking," I mutter as we watch the fire spread.
