"You betray us and expect to be welcomed back with open arms while towing a couple of Savages behind you? How do I know you didn't bring the entire tribe?" I bark at Rachel. She almost seems to shrink under my gaze.

"It's Sam and Eric. I brought Sam and Eric. I thought that you'd protect us, you don't know what they do," Rachel mutters. Sam and Eric, that does change things somewhat. "I don't think they even know we're gone yet."

I think it over. It's still night, and everyone needs their rest. But, we can't trust her.

"Hannah, Emeline, and Catherine put them in one of the huts and watch them. No one's allowed in without my permission," I finally say turning to them. They aren't on one of the watches tonight. "We'll decide this the morning."

"It has to be early," Rachel mutters. I glare at her.

"And why would that be? Why would you get to decide when something like this is held?"

"The Savages have plans."

"So you sell us out to them and then come back to sell them out to us?" I say nearly laughing.

"They want to kill Ralph, they're hunting for him tomorrow. Then they're coming here. They're going to set the camp on fire."

"Which one?" I ask, suddenly thinking of all the children at the other camp.

"This one. There's another?"

So, I was right, the mountain is safe for now.

"Ralph is here. We can wait until morning," I say leaving.

"Cassie—"

"And someone gag her."
