"You left me."

"I did."

"You killed me that day and you know what, even after that, I'm still in love with you."

Friday, February 12.

"Seriously though, I have no idea why Mrs. Callen hates me you know." I rant to Mai as we walk to the canteen. "I finish all her work on time but she always picks on me you know." I continued and turn to look at Ally. "Are you even listening to me?"

"Of course I am Kailee."

"Of course you- shit." I immediately look down and pull Mai with me. "Don't ask just walk." I whisper and she raised an eyebrow but followed me.

"Hey Finn, have you seen Kailee? I've been looking for her the whole day." I hear his voice and quickened my pace. "Sorry man, didn't see her today. Wait, isn't that Mai?" I mentally swear at Justin and start to run, apologizing to people who I bump into.

"Kailee!" I hear him shout my name so I slow down.

"What the hell Kailee?" Mai almost whispers and I gave her a look that said 'I'll tell you later.'

"Hey Kai." Jake said and kissed me on the cheek.

"Hi Jake, what's up?" I said awkwardly.

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm picking you up at six on Valentines' Day. Dress casual. I have to get to class now, bye Kai." With that said he walks away.

"You haven't told him yet?" Her eyes widen after Jake's out of vision and I look down. "You have to tell him Kailee, Valentines' Day is Sunday."

"I know."

Sunday, February 14.

I look at his number and pressed call.

"Hello?" I hear his voice and my breathing stops.

"Uh, Jake. It's me Kailee."

"Hey Kai, wait did something happen. I thought I told you I'll be there to pick you up at six."

I look at the clock to see that it's only twelve.

"Yeah about that Jake, I don't think it's working out." I say it in one breath.

"I didn't catch what you said Kai, can you repeat that?"

I sigh and said the words again, "I don't think we're working out Jake. I-I think we should take a break."

"What do you mean Kai. We were perfectly fine on Friday. Did I do something wrong? Kail-"

"I'm so sorry Jake." And with shaky hands I ended the call. My knees buckle and I fall.

"I'm so sorry Jake."

"I heard that Jake and Kailee broke up."

"I heard he dumped her because she was too easy."

"I heard that she cheated on him, what a loser."

I clutch my bag closer to me and run to my locker. I take out my books and quickly head to my first class. I feel someone bump my shoulder and I look up.

"Jake." I whisper.

"Kailee."

"Can we talk?" I say softly, fidgeting with my fingers. "I don't want-"

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Jake-"

"Have a nice day Kailee." Then Jake walks away as Mai walks towards me.

"What just happened?" Mai asks, her eyes wide.

"I broke up with Jake, over the phone." I say and wince when Mai grabs me and pull me to her locker.

"Kailee-Anne Noriel I thought you said that you're going to tell him the truth?" She said in disbelief.

"I'll fix it, I swear, I will."

'Come back, come back, come back to me-e like...'

I hear my phone ringing and hesitantly, I answered.

"Hello?"

"Kailee, it's uh, it's Jake. I just wanted to apologize for this morning, I know I was a bit rude and I should have listen to you but I woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

I opened my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. I can hear his uneven breathing from the other end, as if he was nervous about this conversation.

"Are you still there Kailee?" He asks and foolishly I nod, even though he could definitely not see me.

"Are you angry at me?"

Again, silence is my answer. I wanted to so badly to just admit everything out, but I can't. He won't understand. He'll say we can work it out, but the truth is I don't deserve all of this.

I don't deserve him.

"You left me." He said softly after a moment. I feel a lump in my throat and my eyes start to sting.

"I know."

"You killed me that day and you know what, even after that, I'm still in love with you." He laughs but there was not even a hint of humour in it. It was bitter instead.

"I'm sorry." I say softly hoping he might hear it.

"I'm sorry too, guess I just wasn't good enough huh."

"No!" I shout, "You were perfect." I added quietly.

"I don't get you Kai, you're broke up with me and now you're going to pull the its not you, it's me card?" He scoffed.

"I'm not worthy of you." I finally say and believe it or not he sighs.

"Is that it? You being so called 'not worthy'?"

"It's not that."

"Then what the hell is it Kai?" He almost shouts but continues, "Do you still love me?"

I hold in a cry and ended the call, falling to the floor as my tears fall without any intention of stopping. My phone's still ringing and his name flashing from my phone but I can't hear his voice again.

With one last look at my phone I switch it off and whisper.

"Truly, madly, deeply."
