It Never Works Out.

Hey lovelies :) I'm back with a new one shot and again a crappy name. This one shot is pretty long so be prepared. Also my editor did quite a lot to this (thank god) but I edited it a bit also so hopefully its okay.

ps. yes I am using almost all the girls as a base (eg. Kailee, Trish, Naomi etc) so I'm probably going to write a one shot for each so stay tuned :P

"Naomi?" I turn around to see yet another one of my high school friends. I feel awkward for the slightest moment, then realize abruptly that I'm at a high school reunion, so this should we expected.

"Cassie!" I give her a hug and ask her how she's been.

"I went backpacking around Europe two months ago. It was amazing! Emelyn wanted to come but she had to work." She says the last part sadly and a girl with mid length brown hair comes to mind.

"She's always so busy. She barely even has time for me and I'm, like, her best friend!" Cassie laughs but before she can say another word, someone calls for her and she politely excuses herself.

"Duty calls, talk to you later?" I laugh lightly at the thought of her, same old Cassie with the wanderlust and big dreams to travel the world. I decide to head towards the snack bar next, since I'm not mentally ready to meet any other people, and also because I'm really hungry.

I see another of my close friends here that I wanted to talk to earlier, but as I cross the room to get to her, I turn abruptly on my heel and speed-walk away as fast as I can, trying to pretend like I'm actually going somewhere and not just escaping.

Oh no, why is he here? Before I can stop myself, the high school memories flood my mind.

10th grade

"Hey, Naomi?" I turn around to see Adrian's face in front of mine. Like, directly in front of my face.

 Out of instinct, I push him away and he loses balance and falls down.

"What do you want?" I say hurriedly, only to be met with laughter from the boy rolling at my feet.

"Your face was priceless!" He says in between fits of laughter. I groan when I catch sight of Emelyn glancing between Adrian and me, evil glint already in place on her face.

The groan intensifies when I realize exactly why she was smiling. "Shut up, Emmy!" I shoot her the middle finger but all she does is laugh.

"I didn't even say anything!" she says mock-incredulously, between gasps of laughter.

I snap back to reality at the tap on my shoulder. I turn around and immediately start mentally cursing at myself for getting distracted.

"Hey." He smiles a closed-mouth smile and I struggle to keep down my own smile.

"Hi," I say while trying to look at anything and everything except for his eyes. "Are you looking for someone?" I hear his voice and almost jump backwards when my brain registers just how close he has gotten to me.

I take a few steps back and shake my head a few times to clear my mind. "Uh, yeah?"

"Emelyn?" Confusion is clearly showing on my face, because he looks at me searchingly, before clarifying. "You said you were looking for someone. Are you looking for Emelyn?"
