Shelter

As I look beyond the paved driveway, I see...nothing, I'm shocked,  so many questions are racing through my head, I feel a warm embrace around my hips and I look back to see tom slamming my body forward as I stumble across the sooted ground beneath me, he grabs my hand and yankes me to the bright red car in front of me and he opens the car door. I hold my head, trying to calibrate the bloody hell is happening, and soon I see tom on the ground struggling to reach something next to him.

  I grow confused as I slowly start staggering toward him as I try to regain control of my body, I soon hear and a blood curtailing scream and I quickly step out of my daze to run over to tom, I see him huffing, sucking in large breathes and heaving slowly. I look to his side and bite my lip, trying to keep my stomach strong as I see a knife plummeted through a stranger's skull and a deep gash from their abdomen to their chest as his intestines were spawled onto the floor. Tom soon got up and I grabbed his hoodie tightly, pulling him into a hug, he pushed me away,'Why whenever I try to get close, he just shuts me out? Wait, why am I trying to get close in the first place', I sigh heavily and rub my temples.

  Tom sat down into the jet black car seat,"Okay, we need to get out of here, these insane 'creatures' are going to kill us, we don't know where the hell matt and tord is, and we're running out of time"I notice his stress levels began rising and I placed a hand on his shoulder,"Don't worry they'll be alright, but now we need a plan and destination"I sputtered. He noded and started up the car, brushing off my hand and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion,'I'll ask what's up with him later, he's acting pretty weird'.

  As we started driving off I snapped off my seat belt, hoping to reach for the map in the backpack that was abruptly placed in the rear of the vehicle, I reached out to get it as I moved my body to grab the bag I sensed a pair of 'eyes' fall onto my.. ass? I quickly look behind me and see thomas with a flustered face and a stern look on the road, I intended to growl at the male, but it came out as a giggle and my face flushed.

  I scrambled for the bag and quickly sat back down, my heart beating from my chest intensely,'This is going to be one hell of a ride', I unzipped the petite bag and open to find a large map,"Where would you think Matthew would be?"I asked and tom replied,"Don't worry about him, we need to find shelter first or its not only going to be matt missing". I quietly agreed, he placed his hand onto the arm rest when we finally got onto the freeway, I looked at his hand curiously, his fingers patting along the rough leather, my hands slowly started intertwining with his and I saw him tense up, I huffed at leaned on his shoulder. I watched the road, covered in limey dust and filled with abandoned cars along the sides, I try to take in more of landscape but my eyes grew heavy and my body slummed onto the alcoholic, drifting off to sleep.
