Butterfly (Gakupo x Kaito)

Part 6

It took a few weeks but the song had eventually been recorded. Gakupo had played a majority of the instruments during the recording process though Kaito played the keyboard for the main part of the tune.
The two now sat listening to the song as it was being made available online, they had posted it to Gakupo's band website, knowing it'd get some attention there and Meiko and the twins had also shared it on their own sites and pages.
Kaito was nervous, terrified and his boyfriend had his arms wrapped around him in attempt to calm him down.
"Do the fans even know you're gay?" asked Meiko, looking at Gakupo as they listened to the song.
"They know," said Gakupo. "They just don't know who I'm with, some don't even realise I'm with someone. I want to keep Kaito's identity hidden since he doesn't feel comfortable being thrust into the limelight against his will"
"So they'll think this song is a friendly collab?" she asked. "You know, two friends...singing a heart wrenching gay romance ballad, as you do"
"They'll think you're cheating on me," Yuma said with a wink.
"I may be gay but I'm not desperate," said Gakupo with a laugh as he pushed Yuma's face.
Kaito hadn't said a word, he was staring intently at his hands as he listened to the song, it was Gakupo's verse now and the words in his boyfriend's voice sent shivers down his spine.
"Don't look so nervous, they're going to love you" Gakupo reassured Kaito, rubbing his arm and the blue haired man leaned into the other's chest.
"No one will even know who you are," said Meiko, leaning back in her seat. "You didn't add a picture of you right?"
"No," said Kaito. "The picture was of Gakupo, you could just see my hand"
The picture they had used for the track was Yuma's idea. Since Kaito didn't feel comfortable with having his face out there yet they used a picture of Gakupo. Gakupo was laying on the ground with his hands reaching out, his hair falling against the ground around him and he had butterflies in his hair. All you could see of Kaito was a hand reaching out to hold Gakupo's own.
The picture was actually pretty artistic and everyone said it looked pretty good.
"I wonder what the fans will think of your change of style" said Yuma, looking over at Gakupo.
"It says on the site that it's a song written by someone close to me who wanted a chance to record it with someone, they won't think I'm changing styles" Gakupo sighed.
"Let's hope not" Kaito let out. "Fans can be scary, even I know that"
"I think this is going to be perfect for you, actually" smirked Meiko, the men all turning to face her as she said this. "Think about it, a lot of your fans are young women and girls, right? And you suddenly release a heart wrenching, passionate love song, with another man, about how your passion and love burns for him? They're going to go crazy. And Kaito's identity is hidden too! Imagine how excited this will make fans! You'll be rolling in it and they get something to enjoy too. A lot of girls love this stuff, it's a sort of 'I can't have him so he should have another man' idea"
The three simply blinked at Meiko's speech, staring at her in confusion.
"So what you're saying" let out Gakupo.
"Is that you're a pervert" Yuma finished.
"...Pretty much" she laughed after a slight hesitation. "But seriously, I give the song five minutes before the internet blows up with theories as to who the 'mystery lover' could be, also fanart and fanfiction"
Kaito's face flushed red as he covered his face, shaking his head as he hid his face against Gakupo's side.
"Meiko!"

"We have comments" Gakupo said as he looked at his phone, he and Kaito had come home and Kaito was currently lying on the couch, flicking through the channels on the TV as his boyfriend sat on the floor in front of him, Kaito's hand in Gakupo's purple hair.
Kaito moved his hand to reach out for the phone and Gakupo handed it to him.
"Am I going to like what I see?"
"They're not so bad"
Kaito nodded, scrolling down to look through the comments.
