The song was called Magnet and it was the first time Kaito had come to Gakupo with a song idea himself, of course he had supported him with songs and offered inspiration but this was different, Kaito had come up with a song that he wanted Gakupo to perform with him.
Throughout recording Gakupo's smile never dropped, he was excited, Kaito was ready to sing and he wanted Gakupo to do it with him.
Meiko had convinced the blue haired man to sing and Kaito had explained to his boyfriend that he didn't want to record his first song alone, he was nervous about his voice so he wanted someone else in the recording with him.
This was more of a way to humour Meiko to get her to be quiet as they got to work but it still made Gakupo happy.
If Kaito wanted to do anything more with this he could, if he decided he wanted to stick to simply writing songs then Gakupo wouldn't force him, if he didn't want to release the song to the public then he wouldn't force him.
He was just happy to be able to sing with Kaito like that, he was excited, the very idea made his chest feel warm.
"Lover boy won't stop smiling and it's freaking me out" Al let out from the mixing desk, watching Kiyoteru work on the computer.
"Leave him alone, his boyfriend wants to try something he loves" Kiyoteru sighed.
"TMI" Yuma announced from behind them, leaning his guitar against his knee.
"He means singing, jackass" Gakupo groaned, leaning over the two men at the desk to grab the headphones.
"Kaito wrote a song and he wants to record it" Kiyoteru explained, repeating what Gakupo had already explained but of course the other two members never listened.
"He wrote a love song a while ago and he didn't want someone else to sing it and he's decided to give it a try singing it himself but it's a duet so he asked me to sing it too" Gakupo said as he slapped Al's hand, the man deciding to edit Gakupo's vocals so he sounded like a chipmunk.
"Grow up, Al" Gakupo laughed.
"You sound better though!"
"Is this song going to be your wedding song?" Yuma asked, not looking up from his guitar, his focus on something else.
Gakupo paused, staring forward at the monitor as that word repeated itself over and over in his head.
Wedding.
That word terrified him but he couldn't deny that the idea of standing at the altar with Kaito standing beside him in a white suit, a blue rose pinned to his jacket, sent chills run down his spine.
Kaito would make the perfect husband.
"We're not ready for something like that"
"Dude, you've been dating for years" Al responded.
"That doesn't mean we're ready for marriage" Gakupo groaned. "It's a big commitment, even though I know I'm in love with him I don't want to jump into something like that, not yet, not until we're both ready"Gakupo had eventually escaped the recording studio and was heading home, the thoughts of marriage still swimming in his head.
Was marriage even necessary? He and Kaito lived together anyway, it's not like they did anything different from a married couple.
He shook his head and shrugged off the thought, it was a dumb thought, it was too early for them, they had too many things to think about first.
He smiled as he made his way home, he had already seen Kaito in the studio but he was excited about being able to see him again.
He wanted to go through the song with him, he wanted to hear Kaito sing the song he had written, the song he had decided he didn't want anyone else to sing.
Once he had arrived home he realised he was the first to arrive and he sighed, pulling his hair loose from its tie and stepping into the living room.
Slumping onto the couch he leaned back and closed his eyes for a moment letting himself think through what had happened today.
He had to focus on what his band had discussed but his thoughts always returned to Kaito, Al would often make fun of Gakupo for his Kaito driven train of thought.
'You're whipped' he would laugh.
Gakupo would always shake his head, he never liked that phrase, 'whipped'. Kaito didn't control Gakupo, he didn't hurt him or use him or manipulate him as the phrase suggested. Gakupo wanted to be with him, wanted him to be happy.
He smiled as he thought of Kaito. Kaito sitting next to him, excitedly licking at an ice cream Gakupo had bought him. Kaito wrapping his scarf around his face when he got cold. The way Kaito would cover his face when he cried watching a sad movie. The way he'd shake his head as he laughed at something funny.
A new image came to Gakupo's mind though, a strange one, not a memory. It was Kaito but he was different, he was dressed differently, all old fashioned and expensive.
Kaito in the vision was turning to face Gakupo, his eyes were sad but he smiled as they stood in some sort of garden, surrounded by roses.
"Gakupo..."
Gakupo tried to reach out for Kaito.
"Gakupo..."
His hand wouldn't move.
"Gakupo!"
His eyes snapped open and Gakupo found his boyfriend standing above him, a worried expression on his face as he leaned over him.
"Are you okay?"
Gakupo nodded, wrapping his arms around Kaito's waist and resting his head against his stomach.
"Yeah, just tired"
Kaito smiled, his hands running through his boyfriend's purple locks, leaning over Gakupo and pressing a kiss to the top of his head after pulling him away from his stomach and moving to straddle his hips, arms draped around his shoulders.
A large smile grew on Gakupo's face when he looked up into those dark blue eyes, those deep ocean eyes that he could fall into at any moment and embrace drowning in them.
Kaito's head came to rest on Gakupo's shoulder, the blue haired man closing his eyes as Gakupo's hand rested on the back of his head, soothing his hair.
"I'm nervous about this song" Kaito confessed.
"I know but you have nothing to worry about, you're a talented writer and your voice is beautiful"
"Not as good as yours though"
Gakupo sighed at that, Kaito really didn't see his own talent and it was impossible to convince him of what he could do.
He then thought back to that dream he had had a moment ago.
What was that anyway?
It didn't feel like a dream.
Almost like a memory.
