Here you go guys! I decided to do something fun after finding out I got 96% on my Japanese language test so I wrote another chapter. Enjoy!
That girl had found Kaito's blog and had emailed him through it, according to her message she had gotten the name of his blog from Yuma who she had spoken to after the uncomfortable event earlier that day.
"Yuma...I'll kick his ass" Gakupo snarled.
"He didn't know" Kaito let out, placing a calming hand on Gakupo's arm as the large man leaned over his shoulder to look at the email. Please don't ignore this.
I understand that you probably want to call the police now and I'd understand if you did, I must seem like a total stalker. Please give me a moment to explain myself."I'm calling the police" Gakupo let out, pushing himself off the couch but Kaito grabbed at the sleeve of his jacket, keeping him there.
"Let's read this first, if it only furthers the creep factor then we'll call the police"
"Kaito, she found your blog, she's sent you an email, that's creepy. What if she's found out who you are? What if she- "
"Gakupo! Calm down. Yuma gave her the blog name"I needed to be able to speak with you somehow but I managed to freak you out, sorry about that. I asked the pink haired guy from the band if there was some way to contact either you or Gakupo to apologise about earlier and he gave me your blog name. My name is Gumi and I'm a student of history, I've been researching the history of this country and I of course discovered the legend of the prince and his warrior lover. I dived deeper into their story and did so much research but kept coming up blank until my friend showed me something to do with Gakupo's band. I have attached pictures with this email, hopefully you'll understand when you see them. Please respond to me when you cool down.
The two looked at each other for a moment, questioning each other without actually speaking. Should they humour her and at least look at the pictures? They couldn't deny that they were both curious.
Gakupo gave a nod and Kaito moved back to the laptop, loading up the pictures that the girl, Gumi, had sent them.
The first one was a sketch, a very old sketch, of a man. The man had long hair down his back and he wore what looked like a kimono, the picture was sketched with a pencil and so was black and white but the light shading on the eyes suggested a pale eye colour. The man stood in a woodland, holding a sword at his side
"G-Gakupo..." Kaito spluttered. "This is..."
"That's me...No way, this is fake"
"It looks old"
"Then it's a coincidence, open the other file"
Kaito nodded and loaded up the second photo. This one was a painting, it was beautiful and in full colour. It looked old too, like the sort of painting a professional would have done of a king. In the painting was a young man dressed in the finest clothing. His hair was neatly combed and shaped around his ears, it was dark blue and matched the colour and his round eyes. He was staring ahead and there was something sad in those eyes. Kaito didn't take time to examine the eyes however as he was too caught up by the face.
"This is...This is me"
"This is insane" Gakupo let out. "This isn't you, this has to be a coincidence"
"Gakupo...she had asked us about a fire"
"Kaito stop"
"I've had these dreams"
"Kaito stop"
"What if..."
"I said stop!" Gakupo snapped, pulling away from his boyfriend and the computer.
"Gakupo?"
Kaito didn't like it when people raised their voices, especially when Gakupo did it but Gakupo didn't tend to snap unless he was distressed. Gakupo didn't usually get this worked up.
"Gakupo are you okay?"
The taller man shook his head, rubbing at his face with his palms before motioning towards the laptop.
"Email her, I want to know what she's getting at here"
Kaito nodded moving to respond to the strange girl with a single question. What do you want?
Gumi had responded almost instantly and they had soon arranged a date in the following week to meet up, all three of them together, and discuss the situation.
Gakupo had demanded that they meet in a public area as he still didn't trust the strange young woman.
Gumi had suggested that they met beside the statue of the prince and the warrior and that's where they now stood.
Gakupo had on his usual black jacket, a pair of jeans and a dark red shirt, his hair tied back in a pony tail running down his back. He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he stood beside the monument.
Kaito was sat on the ground, blue hoody covering his head, baggy dark jeans covering his skinny legs as he watched the taller man silently.
Gakupo looked uneasy, he was shifting from foot to foot and looking around nervously for the girl.
"We don't need to do this" he let out, looking down at his boyfriend. "We should leave and report this to the police"
"Aren't you curious, Gakupo? Those pictures are so old"
"They could be fake"
"They don't look fake. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt. Gaku, it's okay"
Gakupo let out a gentle sigh and nodded his head, he had to calm down, he wasn't one to get so easily worked up, but this entire situation rubbed him the wrong way.
"Okay, Rose, I'll humour her for now"
After a few minutes Gumi arrived. She wore a denim skirt, a Hatsune Miku shirt (much to Kaito's joy) and her green hair came to her shoulders.
She held a plastic folder as she moved towards the two, eyes as large as saucers as she grinned from ear to ear.
"You came!"
"Yes we did" Gakupo let out as Kaito pushed himself up.
"Now will you please explain what's going on?"
Gumi nodded, looking around here before ducking her head down and lowering her voice so people can't hear her.
"Okay, so I did some research about these two" she said, nodding to the statue as Gakupo and Kaito leaned in to be able to hear her clearly.
"I found pictures, the ones I sent you"
"But all pictures of the prince were destroyed" Kaito let out. "And no pictures of the warrior were thought to exist"
"They do exist, just hard to find, it took me ages to dig them up"
"And they're the ones that you sent us? The ones who look like us?" Gakupo questioned.
"Not just looked like, I think they were you" Gumi grinned.
"Now you sound insane"
Gumi shook her head and motioned for the two men to sit down before sitting in front of them, opening the file and pulling out documents, pictures, diary pages and other objects.
"This," she said, handing over a piece of paper to Kaito. "Is a page from the princess' diary. Look at the names"
Kaito sighed, looking down at the page, he had to strain his eyes to make out the words. The paper was old and torn slightly but he managed to make out two named on the page.
Kaito
Gakupo
His hands started to shake as he read the names again and again before Gakupo moved to gently remove the page from his hands.
"These are our names" Gakupo said, looking back to Gumi who nodded excitedly, clapping her hands together.
"There's more"
She moved to pull out more pieces of paper, one was a document created by the king of the time.It breaks my heart to document the death of my dear son, Kaito. Under the spell of a wicked sorcerer who went by the name of Gakupo. During the ceremony of the sorcerer's execution my son dived into the flames alongside the demon who cursed him. It breaks my heart to see my heir being welcomed into the devil's domain. "The king died shortly after this was written" the woman explained.
Gakupo was shaking now and Kaito couldn't tell whether it was from fear or rage as he read the journal over and over again.
"What are you trying to do with this?" Gakupo snarled.
"Gakupo, calm down" Kaito whispered.
"No, I won't!" the larger man snapped as he waved the paper in Gumi's face.
"What is this nonsense!? I've heard of stalkers but this is insanity at its finest, forging shit like this in order to mess with us..."
"These aren't forgeries, I could never write like this and I can barely draw a stick figure, I promise that these are genuine"
"So does this mean..." Kaito let out, his eyes filling with excitement as he moved to grab Gumi's hands "That's we're related to them?"
"No" Gumi said with a shake of her head. "You are them! The words 'In the next life', that means now. You two are them. Fate has given you another chance"
Gakupo shook his head, he pushed himself up and moved to storm from the scene, Gumi moved to follow but Kaito held out his hand, shaking his head to keep her from running after his irritated boyfriend.
Gakupo needed time to cool down when he got angry, it took him a few minutes and a cup of coffee and he returned to his usually calm and loving self.
"You two" Gumi spoke once Gakupo was out of ear shot, heading into the nearest café to follow his usual drill. Kaito wasn't good around angry people and so Gakupo had begun following a pattern whenever he got angry, he'd move away from Kaito and calm down, even if the anger wasn't directed at Kaito, which it never was, he'd make sure Kaito didn't have to witness him when he was irritated.
"Are you a couple now too?"
Kaito nodded, looking through the pages that Gumi had placed before him. He found one drawing which Gumi said was done by the warrior. It was of a rose and beneath was written 'To my beloved'.
"A rose..."
"Do you remember something?"
Kaito shook his head in response to Gumi's question. "No, it's just...Gakupo calls me rose, I don't know why but he's always called me rose"
"It may have something to do with your past lives" Gumi nodded, pulling out a small pocket notebook and quickly scribbling something onto the paper.
"Have you been having any dreams?"
Kaito nodded, he didn't understand this line of questioning, but he was just as curious as Gumi was at this point. He wanted to figure out if there was a significance to these little things that he had shrugged off previously.
"Yes. Both of us have. I've had some nightmares but Gakupo's had them really bad, he's been waking up in a cold sweat. Once he even woke up screaming, mumbling something about a fire...calling my name"
Gumi nodded, writing even more information into her notebook. She really was interviewing him. Was he a research subject now?
"They died in a fire. The warrior was burnt at the stake and the prince dove in after him"
"How romantic" Kaito let out. "Or insane"
Gumi nodded again, practically bouncing where she sat.
"Tell me about your dreams"
Kaito nodded "They're of me and Gakupo usually, sometimes there are other people in them too but they're mostly of Gakupo and myself. There was one where he is teaching me how to use a sword, he's really good with it, better than he is really. And there's another where we're both wearing masks, dancing on a balcony away from a room full of people"
"Don't you see?" Gumi grinned, stuffing more pages into Kaito's arms.
"These aren't just dreams. They're memories"
"That's enough!" came Gakupo's voice from behind Kaito, the larger man moving forward to pull his boyfriend up.
"We're leaving"
"Gakupo, this is a miracle, what if this is true"
"No, it's not true"
"Why won't you give this a chance"
"Because if I accept it it means accepting that I couldn't protect you!"
