Butterfly (Gakupo x Kaito)

Part 4

 "I'll sing the first part" Kaito said, handing Gakupo a copy of the lyrics. "Then we both sing the bridge apart from the second line which you'll sing, then we'll both do the chorus and then we'll swap parts for the second verse and bridge"
Gakupo nodded as he listened to his boyfriend, he supposed that'd work but was Kaito comfortable singing so much of the song? He had two verses to himself.
"This song is actually kind of tragic" Gakupo let out.
Kaito nodded "It's about a love between two people that has to be locked away, they're trying to convince themselves that it isn't wrong, no matter what people say but they're scared"
Gakupo nodded again "When did you write this?"
A blush formed on Kaito's cheek and the blue haired man bit his lip, lowering his head only to have an arm draped around his shoulders.
"It was when we started seeing each other, before either of us came out...Back then I was so scared of no one accepting us"
Gakupo sighed and nodded, they had both been frightened of how people would react. Meiko had been really chill with it, Kaito's mother was a little upset at first but his father calmed her down and she eventually got used to it. Gakupo's parents were the problem, they weren't happy at all but apparently they're starting to come around.
Gakupo wasn't too bothered anymore, if anyone had a problem with who he loved it was their problem, he wouldn't give up on Kaito just to make other people happy.
Kaito was more important than the opinions of other people.
Kaito curled into Gakupo's side, the arm around his shoulders pulling him closer and Gakupo pressed a kiss to the side of his head.
Gakupo set the paper down and did the same with Kaito's, taking off of him. He moved his arm which was not wrapped around Kaito's shoulders to stretch out to take his boyfriend's hand.
"I love you" he whispered. "And it doesn't matter to me who knows and what they think. I will happily scream to the world that I love you even if it means everyone else walking away from me"
Kaito smiled, blushing softly.
Gakupo always had a way of making Kaito feel like the most beautiful, most incredible being on the planet. Gakupo made him feel special.
"I want to protect you, Kaito" Gakupo whispered.
Kaito froze for a moment, those words sounded familiar, he couldn't place where he had heard them before but he had a strange sense of déjà vu, as if Gakupo had said these words to him before.
When?
"I want to protect you, Kaito. I will protect you"
This gave Kaito a warm feeling, these words that he heard in a voice so similar to Gakupo's own floating at the back of his mind.

The next day Gakupo was out with Yuma, he found himself searching through a local music shop, desperately searching through the Pop CDs.
"She has a new album out and I want to get it for Kaito's birthday"
Yuma groaned "He still listens to her?"
Gakupo shrugged as he found her name, Hatsune Miku.
The green haired pop star that everyone, especially Kaito, was obsessed with. Her voice was okay but it wasn't Gakupo's style, it didn't matter if he liked her music or not though, this was Kaito's birthday present. Kaito's birthday was in a week and Gakupo had been trying to figure out what to get for a while, he decided when Kaito was getting upset about not being able to get her new CD.
"World Is Mine, this is the one" Gakupo said, holding up the CD. "This one has a DVD too and apparently you can get a signed poster with it here, he'd love this"
Yuma laughed, shaking his head "You're like...number one boyfriend, man"
"I like seeing him smile"
Yuma made a gagging sound and shook his head "You guys are so sweet I'm going to get a cavity"
Gakupo laughed and rolled his shoulders as he examined the CD. The case had an image of Miku on it, she was wearing a white shirt and a red and black skirt, her hair was in two long, turquoise ponytails and she had a crown sat on top of her head. Her hands were placed firmly on her hips and she was giving the camera an arrogant smile.
Gakupo didn't get the appeal but oh well.
He took out his phone to text Kaito that he'd be home soon but was distracted for a moment by his wallpaper.
The image was of his boyfriend the previous winter, Kaito had been cold so he had decided to wrap his scarf around his head completely, an end was left draped over his head, covering his left eye. He was adorable.
Gakupo couldn't help feeling the ends of his mouth twitch as he smiled fondly at the image.
What had he done to deserve a gift like Kaito?
"You're smiling, you look like a love sick puppy" Yuma groaned.
"Jealous?"
"No" Yuma responded. "...Maybe"
Gakupo laughed and draped his arm around his friend's shoulder, dragging him to the counter as he went to pay for his boyfriend's CD.
"This comes with a poster, which one would you like" the cashier smiled.
There were two posters to choose from and both were signed. One was a larger version of the CD cover with the signature to the left of Miku's head, she had drawn a star with a throne beside her name.
The other poster was of Miku making a love heart with her hands, her head tilted to one side as she grinned. She wore her usual outfit with her short skirt and her tie. The signature was in the centre of the heart.
Kaito would like that one.
Gakupo selected the poster and placed the money on the counter, the cashier carefully rolled it up and placed it in a bag with the CD and handed it over to him.

"You going to give them to him today?" Yuma questioned as they headed to Gakupo and Kaito's home.
Gakupo shook his head "I'm going to hide them until his birthday"
Yuma nodded, pockets shoved into his pockets as he walked beside the taller man.
A butterfly flew past the two, fluttering past Gakupo's face and the man seemed to be distracted by it for a moment. It was a dark shade of blue with soft, petal like wings as it fluttered past him.
The shade was very similar to the colour of Kaito's hair, he hadn't seen such a beautiful butterfly before.
He smiled as it flew away.
Yuma wasn't concentrating; he was staring at the ground as he walked. He was happy for Gakupo and Kaito, they were good for each other and they had known each other since they were children. Gakupo would die for Kaito and Kaito seemed to be willing to do the same, of course Yuma knew Gakupo better than he did Kaito so he could only really speak for Gakupo.
Kaito made him smile though, more than anything else could and that was good enough for Yuma.
Yuma wanted his best friend happy.
Yuma had known Gakupo for years but sometimes it felt like he had known him for even longer, he'd get weird senses of déjà vu when Gakupo said something or did something random.
When they got to Gakupo's house the taller man unlocked the door and stepped inside, waiting for Yuma to follow.
"Gakupo?" came Kaito's voice from the living room.
"I'm home, Rose" Gakupo called. "Will be there now, need the toilet!"
With that Gakupo headed upstairs to hide the present, he looked excited which meant that Kaito would probably be even more excited when he saw the gift.
The pink haired man shrugged and stepped into the living room, waving to the blue haired man who was curled up on the couch in his striped white and blue pyjamas, watching Phantom of the Opera on the TV.
"Hey, Kaito"
"Hey, Yuma. Gakupo didn't say you were coming, I would have gotten changed" Kaito said with a blush.
Yuma shrugged and dropped onto the chair positioned beside the couch.
"Doesn't bother me, I've seen a lot worse than a man in his pyjamas"
Kaito laughed and nodded "Oh yeah, tours"
Gakupo's band was a touring band, they were pretty popular but they hadn't been able to go too far but they still did short tours. They had a pretty good quality van with bunks but it was cramped and they didn't have a driver so they had to take turns driving, only Yuma couldn't drive.
"Al sleeps naked" Yuma cringed.
"Aren't you used to seeing the others naked?" Kaito questioned, they did often have to get changed in front of each other on tour, Kaito knew that much about touring bands.
"Yeah but Al's not my type"
"Stop talking about Al naked, I'll get nightmares" said Gakupo as he entered the room, dropping down next to his boyfriend and pressing a kiss to his cheek.
"Stop that, I'm lonely over here" Yuma groaned.
"Want a kiss too, Yu?" Gakupo winked.
"No thanks, had enough of that in the fanfiction"
Kaito laughed. Yeah, the moment the band became popular there was fanfiction everywhere and for some reason the most popular pairing was Yuma and Gakupo. Many of the fans assumed Gakupo was single too, even though the man wasn't exactly secretive, he just didn't see much point in announcing it.
Gakupo smiled as Kaito turned back to watch the film, he really enjoyed Phantom which sort of surprised Gakupo considering how awkward the man was about themes of death, then again, Kaito was drawn in by beautiful singing voices.
"Dude there's a bug on the window" Yuma spoke, looking towards the front window.
Gakupo raised an eyebrow and pushed himself up, moving to examine the bug but then smiled, shaking his head.
"It's a butterfly"
Strange, this butterfly was identical to the one he had spotted earlier. The one the colour of Kaito's hair.
