"W-what do you mean?" You asked "I don't have much money"
Seung-Gil blushed a little as he tried to find his words "um.. would you be my friend"
You were dumbfounded. "W-why? You look like a highly respectable man, but that's not something you just ask you know!" You said puffing your cheeks
"I-I know. It's just I'm an ice skater. When you have to go to so many competitions, it's not like you have time to make friends." He said averting your eyes
It took you a minute to process. You smiled chuckling to yourself. This was going to be the first time you had a friend too
"OK!" You said enthusiastically. Your smile was as big as the moon
Seung-Gil was taken aback. His cheeks now a deep red "really?"
"Of course!" You said again "just wait till I get off work"
Seung-Gil stayed with you until your shift was finished. He even helped you manage the cashier.
You sighed as you clocked out "you're really helpful you know that?"
"I mean that's what friends are for right?" He said slightly proud of himself
You smiled to yourself for the hundredth time. The most pure smile you've ever done.
"So, since we're friend, I think I should take you to the ice skating rink!" He said
"I've never gone skating before" You said excited. Ever since your mom died, your dad has stopped you from doing anything fun.
Seung-Gil took you to the rink. The atmosphere immediately changed as you walked in. Your footsteps echoed in the empty halls.
Seung-Gil got you a pair of skates and helped them on for you. You blushed a little as his hands grazed your slender feet.
"Ready?" Seung-Gil said as he got up
"I'm never ready" You said nervously
"It'll be fine, I'll make sure you won't fall." He said holding out his hand
You reluctantly took it and made your way to the rink. You put one foot on the ice and then the other.
You felt different, as if you could just skate away from all your problems.
You tried to take your first step, but immediately slipped. Seung-Gil and his quick reflexes caught you just in time.
"Thanks" You said breathing out.
"Be careful. It's not called ice for nothing. You must be cold, here take this" He said unwrapping his scarf and putting it around you
"T-thank you" you said shyly
You and him skated together some more, hand in hand, Seung-Gil showing off some of his moves. Then, you heard the bell tower ring.
"It's 8 o' clock! I'm sorry but I have to leave!" You said frantically, you were supposed to be home by 7
"Why, did I do something?" He asked, disappointed.
"No, it's just, I have to go back. I have a curfew." You said getting out and taking your skates off. Seung-Gil came out of the rink. You gave your skates to him.
"Thank you for today, seriously, you don't know how much it means to me" you said.... smiling. Then you hurried home
Seung-Gil Lee's Final Choice
As soon as you got home, you quietly opened the door, praying your dad won't be there, but he was.
"WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU! YOU DIDNT MAKE ME DINNER" he yelled throwing you onto the ground.
"I-I'm sorry Dad, please" you pleaded
"What's that around your neck. A scarf? Where did you get that from?" He asked, pulling you up by the scarf
You gagged "It—was from— a friend"
He tightened it around you "what friend, you don't have any"
He dropped you and punched you in the guts. All the air was sucked out of you in a second.
"Are you trying to get me into trouble? You wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for me" He said continuing to kick you.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" you whispered out, tears flowing out again
All of a sudden, a knock was at the door. "Stay our of sight" he hissed at you
Your dad opened the door, and outside were polices and... Seung-Gil
The police took your dad away for further questioning and left you with Seung-Gil.
Be ran to you, cradling you in his arms.
"H-how did you find me?" You said. You voice was shaky
"I noticed the bruises on your arm when you rolled up your sleeves to skate." He said simply
You cursed under your breath
Then, tears shown in Seung-Gil eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner. I shouldn't have left you leave"
You started tearing up too "you shouldn't have to worry about a nobody like me"
"That's not true at all. From my first glance at you, I was in love" He said kissing your forehead "I won't ever leave you alone again"
