Em's POV

I walked with Kirstie to the human shelter. I noticed something strange about her. Her skin looks less pale and her eyes don't seem that grey anymore. "Kirstie? You look... different."I muttered. She looks at me with her greyish yet brown eyes.

"I know. Something... to tell you."She said. "And you can speak more fluently now. So can Scott, Avi and Kevin."I said as I furrow my eyebrows.

"We are changing, Em."She said.

I gasped and squealed. "Guys! Kirstie just said a full sentence! Look, look, look!"I exclaimed. All of the sudden, Kirstie's eyes turn brown and her skin isn't even considered pale anymore.

"Kirstie?! Are you human?"I asked.

She moved her arms around and looked at herself. "I am. I am human."She said.

Happiness overtook me and I hugged her waist as tightly as I could.

"Is this possible?"I asked into her shoulder. She patted my back and broke the hug.

"It has to be. That means that other zombies can turn back human too. I saw a zombie turn human the other day."Kirstie said with a grin across her face.

The others stopped and stared at us.

"Journey to shelter. Now."Kevin groaned. "You know, you two should kiss."Chloe said with a smirk.

I looked down and saw that there was hardly any space between us. Kirstie's hand went to my cheek and lifted my face up.

She smiled and smashed her lips against mine. My hands go around her neck and so does hers.

We broke the kiss and looked into each other's eyes. "I'm sorry, Em. I didn't mean to-"I cut her words off by connecting her lips with mine once again.

I broke the kiss and smiled like an idiot.

"I have been wanting to do that. I love you, Kirstie."I said. "I love you too, Em."She said. I pecked her lips and heard Chloe cough.

She glared at us and said, "We have something better to do than you two confessing your feelings for each other."

I laughed and intertwined my hand with Kirstie's. We walked with the rest of the group.

"I love you, Em."

"I love you too, Kirstie."

I kissed her cheek and kept walking.

'This was the best thing that could ever happen to me.'I thought while having a smile on my face
