He's Dead

Mitch's POV

I woke up to a bright light above me. "You're awake. I'm surprised the serum worked."I hear a male voice say.

I look and see the man from earlier today. "You don't look like a zombie."He said and examined my features.

"Hands... off. Touch him and you die, Darren."I heard a female voice say. I was strapped to the platform and I couldn't see who it was.

"Chloe? You're... alive?"He said.

"Very much alive, Darren. Now take those straps off of him before I shoot. Your choice."

This wasn't going to be good.

Chloe's POV

"Actually, I think I'll just blow him in the head."Darren said and held the gun up to his head. "If you shoot him, he won't be the only one dying, Darren."I said and walked up to Darren.

"I thought you loved me, Chloe!"

"I don't, Darren. That zombie right there is my friend."I said while pointing to Mitch. Em and Kirstie stepped up with Scott and Avi attacking the other guards.

They all screamed out in ear drum hurting pain. "You? Friends? With zombies?"Darren asked confusingly.

"Yes. Also, zombies can change back into humans, Darren."I said and Kirstie stepped up.

"I was a zombie. But I changed back. And now, I'm dating Em."Kirstie said with a smirk on her face. She held hands with Em and kissed her on the cheek.

"No! This is all a dream! It has to be my imagination."He said and backed away into the corner.

"Oh, it's real, Darren. Now unstrap him or I shoot you in the head."I said and held the gun up to his head.

Darren looked at me and held the gun up to his head.

"If I can't have you, Chloe,"He paused and tears fell from his face.

No...

"Than I guess I'll just go."He pulled the trigger and plopped on the floor with blood pouring from his head.

He was dead.

"Darren!"I yelled and started crying.

I felt a hand on my back and saw Mitch standing there.

"Mitch!"I yelled and turned around. I sobbed into his chest and let him hug me tightly.

"It's alright. You don't have to be afraid, Chloe."He said. Did he just say a full sentence?

He did.

"You just said a full sentence, Mitch."I said. I look into his eyes and they were fully brown now. His skin wasn't pale.

"Are you-"

"Human? Yes."He said and hugged me tighter. I cried tears of sadness and happiness. "I love you, Mitch."I cried.

Where did those words come from? Oh wait, my mouth. He looked down at me and smiled widely. "I'm sorry Mitch I didn't mean-"I got cut off by his lips smashing into mine.

Yeah that was kind of short. So, sorry about that. But one more chapter than the epilogue and this book will be done!! *Insert sad face here*
