Mikey. (part one)
"Do you have a spare pen by any chance?" I looked up to be met with a pale face holding a smirk and matching green eyes.
"Uh-uh ye-yeah I should le-let me check." I sputtered out. I reached for my bag and fumbled while trying to find a pen. "Here you go."
"Thanks." He threw a wink, and turned towards the front of the room where the professor had begun her lecture. It took me a minute to gather myself before opening my notebook and preparing to take notes.
Halfway through when the discussion was turning towards clef notes and proper construction of sheet music, I felt the guy next to me lean over and whisper in my ear.
"What's your name?" I turned my head feeling my face heat up from the sight of his eyes.
"Mikey." I said in a quiet voice looking in his eyes. He grinned flashing his perfect teeth at me.
"I'm Bill."
"Well hello Bill." I whispered with a wink. He laughed and turned back to the front of the class.
As the class came to an end i stood up and gathered my things, packing my new notebook away, as I zipped my bag up and slung it over my shoulder. I walked through the open doors and turned down the hall when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Bill had made his way to my right side before holding my pen out in front of me.
"Figured you'd want this back."
"No, no, you can keep it it's just a pen after all." I awkwardly laughed, scratching the back of my neck. We had stopped walking, now stopped in front of the glass double doors that led outside, facing each other.
"Come get lunch with me." I looked at him confused.
"What? Now?" He nodded with a grin. "I mean I'm not doing anything else today so I guess I could swing that with my oh so packed schedule." I smirked.
"I didn't realize I was going the be eating with royalty." He laughed.
"Well I mean take a look at me? Walking royalty."
"Well my handsome prince, where would you like to eat?" This guy is pretty smooth, he's not Pete though... I snapped out of my thoughts thinking about what he'd just asked me.
"Look Bill, I don't want to lead you on, but I'm really hooked on this guy who ended up having a boyfriend and it's just really complicated and really recent. I just wanna stick to myself for now I think." My voice trailed off and I looked at the floor.
"Hey no I get it, if my past had a name, messy would be the middle one." He let out a small laugh. "At least let me give you my number if you wanna talk about it sometime or go hang out somewhere fun to take your mind off it all." I was taken aback by how kind and understanding he was.
"Yeah, yeah of course." I pulled my phone out of my pocket, seeing yet another thirty text blurbs from Pete on my lock screen. I internally sighed, unlocking my phone and clearing my notification box before letting myself read the little previews. I didn't want myself to gain hope seeing as he probably just wanted to talk about our little lessons that were more of a romantic offering than anything else. I handed him my phone watching as he created his contact. After a minute and some odd seconds he handed it back to me looking at me with a bright smile.
"Well I'm gonna go grab some food, but it was nice to meet you Mikey, I'm excited for our future class time." He started to turn to go.
My stomach seemed to agree with him as I heard it yell at me. I would've been paranoid of running into Pete somewhere, but I had his schedule memorized at this point. I got in my car and decided that the Dunkin Donuts drive through would suffice to fill my aching stomach.
