Red used to be a city cat. She wasn't part of any BloodClan, she was a normal, good city cat far away from the Clans. She lived with her brother Slate. They were all each other had, but they made the most of it. They were happy. Then, when they were both about two years old, the nuclear power plant very near their city had a malfunction and exploded. The shockwave broke buildings, jostled residents, and sent radiation flying in every direction.
Red and Slate escaped the city, spooked and astonished as they saw it in the horizon. Their home was destroyed. The siblings decided their home was no longer livable and moved on, trying to find another home. Days passed and Slate's physical state was clearly declining. Whenever Red asked if he was okay, he answered with "yes," so she wouldn't worry about him. One day, Slate collapsed. He and Red shared about ten minutes of goodbyes before Slate fell into a spasm and died. Slate had died of radiation sickness. Red, distraught and lost, buried her brother and continued on, more wandering than traveling with a purpose for many moons. She eventually came across the Clans, one in particular. RiverClan.
She showed up on their territory, asking for refuge. RiverClan was very wary of her since they had recently suffered an attack by rouges who had killed the leader's son's mate. They gave her three days to prove herself worthy while the leader thought about it. Red was doing okay, but came off weird and suspicious to the clan because of her desperation and depression. At the end of day three, the leader told her to leave. Something snapped inside her. She ran out of camp though lingered in the territory, having a mental breakdown. Her mind wasn't strong enough to handle what had happened in the last moons. Somehow, all of her blame twisted into one source.

RiverClan, specifically.
As if by chance, the leader's son approached the water near Red.
Red viciously attacked and killed him, leaving his body for his clan to find along with her deep claw marks in the ground. It was a challenge and a warning to the leader. She then fled to the unclaimed wilderness where she lived for a few days before she spotted a muscled grey Tom fighting two clan cats...
Red's claws are abnormally large and painful as a result of the radiation from the nuclear meltdown. She is genetically immune to radiation sickness, unlike Slate.
And this is why Red is evil
