Let The Flames Begin

 Let The Flames Begin by Paramore on the side :)

"Spark no!" Party yells behind me, but i'm already grabbing hold on the metal staircase. It's burning hot to touch and i hiss in pain as it add another lay of burnt flesh over the just healed wounds i acquired last time i was in the city. 

All the same i pull down my jacket sleeves so they give some sort of protection to my palms and start to climb the ladder three steps at a time, nearly slipping now and again but never stopping. I cam see the door, and it's so close now that there would be no point in turning back. I spare a brief glance at the ground and see that Neon and Ghoul are holding Party back from coming after me, trying to drag him towards the car. 

I haul myself over the ledge and all but fall through the door, immediately being hit by the sheer heat of the flames around me. The curtains i once found pretty have gone up completely, and the temperature makes me feel like i'm about to melt or pass out. The smoke doesn't help either, filling my lungs with choking blackness and making me double over, heaving for a moment. 

"Spark?" I look up to see Silver on the ground near me, looking crumpled and weak. Obviously her battery can't stand the heat or have the energy to move against it, as she had collapsed to the floor, her eyes widening as she see's me. 

"S'ok" I sputter, crawling closer to her. "I'll get you out of here." Even the air in the room is chokingly hot, pressing down on me like weights, blurring my vision too so that it almost seems like a mirage in the room. 

"No... no you need to go" She tries to shake her head but is to weak to do so, making it just droop towards the floor. 

"Not without you" I cough "i've come this far, haven't i?" I crawl closer and closer feeling the flames lick around me like snakes. I know i have to stand up, but it's still a shock when i do. The whole room seems to sway and i try to reach out blindly, grab onto anything to steady myself, but i fail and just end up stumbling, managing to catch myself at the last moment. 

I hold my hand over my nose and mouth in an attempt to block out some of the gases that are floating around me. It's a feeble attempt, but if it makes any sort of difference then it's worth it. My vision is really swimming now and it's hard to put one foot in front of the other, but i manage to make it to Silver and drop down next to her. It's too hot to even breathe now, and when i grab her she goes weak in my arms, battery nearly completely gone. 

"I don't think i can stand" she whimpers as i drag her towards the door, one hand under each of her arms. I don't have the energy to even reply to her by this point -  i have to focus it all on dragging her towards the door. How was it even that far away? It seems to take a century - and a whole lot of coughing and spluttering - before we reach the door. And just in time too, as that's when part of the floor gives way, falling down into the building below. The flames shoot up now and i scream from the sheer heat of it, dizziness threatening to overcome me and send us both falling. I fight against it though, pulling us out onto the ledge with a heave. 

I fall for a moment then, looking down through my soot-filled hair to the ground, where the other three are standing. Ghoul and Neon are struggling to hold Party back, but when they see us on the ledge they immediately stop and let him go. 

Party and Ghoul rush to the bottom of the stairs as i help Silver over the edge. She grips weakly to the railings and i try to help her down the steps, but she goes too slowly. I know that it's only a matter on minutes before the flames reach here as well, taking us both or destroying the stairs. Ghoul must realise this too, as he yells up.

"Silver, you've gotta jump" he calls to her "don't worry, i'll catch you i promise." She looks back to me for a moment before taking a deep breath, and then falling backwards. Ghoul is true to his word and grabs her before she can hit the ground, stumbling backwards but managing to stay upright. Neon is there in a second, helping him pull her over to the car and into the back.
