The sun poured into the throne room from the tall windows casting a beautiful glow on what looked to be a gloomy face.
"This has been the fifth attack in a month sire we need to act fast or there will be nothing to fight for." The knight avoided making eye contact with the seething king. Unknown to the court Uther wasn't furious... he was hurt. Morgana was his ward. He took her in, cared for her, loved her.... almost as if she was his own. How could she do this to him? After all he's done? What has he done to deserve this?
The knights comment goes unanswered as the court falls into a heavy silence.
A voice filled the void finally " Uther  I believe that Morgana's attacks have gone unanswered for far too long.... You know me I'm not a fan of violence for I'm just a physician but I agree with him your majesty we need to act. The sooner the  better." Uther's eyes fall upon Gauise his physician and friend.
Finally he spoke, "everyone leave.... except you Gauise."
Everyone in the room looked bewildered as they haven't made a decision yet but ultimately decided to leave not wanting to upset their already troubled king. Uther motioned for Gauise to sit next to him by the head of the table, and Gauise did slowly for his hip was hurting him.
"Gauise I hear what you and the knights have been saying and I agree. But how? We've tried everything. And the only thing we have to show for it is dead and wounded soldiers. I cannot send anymore incase I need them here."
"I understand sire," Gauise hesitated, "perhaps sire you haven't tried everything." Gauise lifted an eyebrow as if trying to indicate what he was saying. But Uther was completely and utterly lost.
"What are you suggesting Gauise?"
"Uther you have known me for years and I know you know of my past," there was the raised eyebrows again "perhaps the only way to defeat Morgana is by beating her at her own game."
Uther was shocked. Never in a million years did her even consider what Gauise was suggesting. And as much as Uther wanted to be mad at Gauise he had to admit he was right. Perhaps the only way to win was to fight magic with magic.
Uther chose his word carefully, for this was the moment he went against everything he believed. "If I were to do as... you suggested where would I find someone to do so? No one would ever help after... well... you know." Uther was now becoming unsure of himself.
"By the end of tomorrow I should have someone....I think I may know exactly who."
