"No absolutely  not!" Merlin said in an exasperated yell.
"Merlin plea-"
"No why would I help him? He's done nothing but harass and scare me. You know what? He's probably lying. The second he finds out who I am... what I am he will burn me or cut off my head in a blink of an eye. And no Arthur won't do anything to help for he and everyone will all be scared  and hurt that I didn't tell them. So no absolutely not." Merlin falls exhausted by his own rant onto the bench behind him. Gauise stood across the room not saying a word.
"You know Merlin perhaps this is your chance. He isn't looking to hurt you he's looking for help. This could be your chance to help bring magic into Camelot. And if you want we don't have to tell anybody. It  can remain a secret."
Merlin rolls his eyes, "another secret... great."
As much as Merlin hates to admit it Gauise could be right. This could be his chance to show Arthur, his friends who he really is and that Magic isn't so bad. But still there was the chance that Uther wouldn't keep his word or change his mind and as soon as he finds out what he is.. There goes his head. Merlin needed to think on this.
~
The sun's ray peeked through from behind the large velvet curtains. Merlin let them shine through as he  swung the curtains to the side allowing the light to pour into the room.
"Rise and shine." Merlin said without his typical shine.
Arthur answered with a grunt as he rolled over so his face was facing away from the  the sun "merlin" Arthur said in an exhausted voice.
"It's time to get up."
This caught Arthur's attention but he didn't think too much of it. This was the first day in a month that Merlin didn't wake him up with the usual 'time to get up, up, up and out of bed. Get off your arse and start the day!', to say the least it was a good change.
But still a change.
~
"Have you polished my armor?"
"Yes"
"Fetched my laundry?"
"Yes"
"Cleaned my room?"
"Yes"
"How about groom my horse?"
"What? No! We have people for that."
"Yes Merlin we do, you. I asked you so you must do it. And while your at it take it for a walk or something it's been in that stall all day."
"It's not a dog" Merlin said in a annoyed yet exhausted voice.
"Shut up"
Merlin rolled his eyes and left the room without another word.
That's not typically like Merlin, Arthur thought. He usually fights back every chance he gets, he just must be tired.
And so Arthur went about his princely duties without another thought about it.
----
"Shine my shoes....merlin. Walk my horse...Merlin. Polish my armor.....Merlin. You know what Arthur? You can shine your own damn shoes, walk your own horse and polish your own damn armor!" Merlin picked up a rock and threw at a nearby tree.
He was sick of Arthur always telling him what to do.... it was technically his job to do what Arthur says but that didn't matter right now. The point is that he was sick of everyone pushing him around when if he wanted he could control them with a single twist of his tong and blink of his eye. Clearly he wasn't thing right.
Merlin knew that what he was thinking was dumb but still it resonated in the back of his head.... what would happen if they knew? If they knew that he had magic. Would they accept him or would they.....
no. He can't think like this right now.
Merlin made his way along the path until he found a resting spot where he could tie the horse and sit down. Merlin made sure to tie the 'leash' to the horse around the tree twice so he can't get away. Don't want to make that mistake again.
They he took off his jacket and laid it on a log. Even though the log was hard it felt like heaven to Merlin, do he has been on his his feet all day and he has been running in circles in his mind all day. He let his eyes slide down.... maybe just a little rest.
~~~~
Merlin wakes to the sound of voices. His feat cold and his nose running. It was now night
and the deafening darkness of the forest surrounded him.
How long has he been here?
He quickly looked to where the horse is... or was. It was gone!
"Dammit not again," Merlin thought.
Then he hears it again, the voices. He follows the sound. Their down the path a few feet there was a clearing and in the clearing there stood a a figure hidden by a emerald green cloak.
"I know you there Emrys." (Sry if I spelled that wrong. Haven't wrote it for a while.)
Then the figured turned revealing its face and a shiver of realization washed over Merlin like a cold shower. Piercing and slow.
Her raven hair cascaded around her pale skin and her ocean (blue?) eyes.
Morgana.
"You can't fight this Merlin." She spat his name out as if it was nothing. "There's only one outcome and it's fire. Your friends are going to burn, your home is going to burn and your beloved prince as well. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. Your weak. Pathetic. And their going to die because you can't stop me and you never will."
Merlin wanted to move. Say something.... anything. He wanted to say that she wrong.... that he will stop her. That she is nothing. But no words came out. His mouth was glued shut and his vocal cords torn. He was helpless.
--
Merlin jolts awake, sweat sliding down his face and around his nose.
I was dreaming. It was just a dream. He thought to himself.
He looked around at his surroundings. He was no longer in the woods, he was in his room. That's weird, Merlin thought because he doesn't remember ever returning. The last thing he remembered is the heaviness of his eyes as he slid off to sleep.
Merlin got out of his bed and through his bedroom door in which light was pouring through. There are the table surrounded by books sat Gauise.
"Gauise?"
He looked up slightly shocked. "Ah good your awake. Arthur found you out cold in the middle of the woods so he brought you home. He said that he tried to wake you up but failed miserably. Oh and he gave you the day off tomorrow."
Merlin said nothing but smiled as he sat down across from his mentor.
"Gauise we need to talk. I think I made my decision."
