It was a few months after Prime left. Jamie walked up the driveway with Amanda, and the voices once again stopped. Dom, Mia, Letty and Brian looked at her. Owen and Deckard, Owen's brother, were watching with the rest of the team. She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Amanda, this is your aunts Mia, and Letty, and your uncles Dom and Brian." She told her daughter.
"Is this who Optimus told me about?" She asked.
Jamie flinched at his name but nodded. "Yeah. Go say hi."
She walked up and smiled, making Mia hug her. Jamie held her arms over her stomach, not meeting anyone's eyes. She finally caught their attention.
"Uhm... she wanted to meet everyone. I... I gotta go see Bee and Sam."
"What happened to Lennox?" Owen asked.
She didn't look at him as she stood there.
"We aren't together anymore... But do you think you all could watch her while I go somewhere? Just for a few hours, a day at most."
"Do you want one of us to come with you?" Letty asked.
Jamie shook her head. "You don't have to. But can you watch her? If not I guess I could take her with me..."
"No, we can watch her." Mia said. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Did you hear about what happened with the bots?"
They all nodded and Letty smiled sadly at her.
"He left..."
Jamie nodded and tears started to fall down her face. She sniffed and motioned to them.
"Thanks for watching her. And if you knew everything I did..... No. You wouldn't be okay either."
She then turned around and walked down the drive and drove off.
--------------
Jamie stood in the same spot that she had been when she first met the Prime. It was on top of the Hoover Dam, and that was when Megatron tried to kill her. She didn't know when, or if, he would ever come back. She sniffed, wiping the tears from her face as she looked at the deep blue water. Her whole life had changed when she was dropped over the edge of the broken Dam. She had discovered so much in the years that the bots had been on Earth.
Jamie turned around and walked to her car, getting in and driving off. She pulled into the Nest site and got out of the red pickup. The soldiers looked over at her and watched as the smooth green car transformed and walked over to her side.
"How you doing, Jamie?" He asked.
She shrugged as they walked. "I'm surviving."
"That is not what I wanted you to say."
She sighed and looked up at him.
"Crosshairs, he was the only thing who ever truly cared about me. I could be myself. I could be what I really am and not worry. He stood up for me more than once and now he's gone. You can't just forget things like that."
Crosshairs nodded as they walked into the hanger. Drift looked over and saw the sadness coming from Jamie.
"You are not well, Jamie."
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious instead of asking." She grumbled to him. "Where's Bee?"
The yellow camaro beeped at her and she smiled, but once again it didn't meet her eyes. She sat down on the bench in the Nest, leaning back against the wall. Her phone buzzed and she looked at the text.
'Amanda wants to know if you can stay for tonight's bbq. -Mia'
'If you want me. -J'
'Always. So you will stay? -Mia'
'Yeah. -J'
'Awesome! I'll let everyone know. -Mia'
Jamie puts her phone back into her hoodie pocket as she sits looking around the Nest. The cars and bots all knew how she was feeling. She wasn't dead or dying, which meant that Optimus was still alive. But she couldn't feel him, and it upset her to no ends. She tried again to speak to him.
'Can you hear me?' She asked in her mind.
No response.
'Please.' She closed her eyes. 'Optimus I need you to answer me...'
Again, nothing. She curled her legs up to her chest and put her eyes on her knees, trying hard not to cry as she sat there. Everyone knew what she was doing, but they also knew she hadn't gotten a response after two weeks of his departure. This time she spoke aloud.
"God dammit, Prime. Fucking answer me." She growled. "I need an answer. I need to know that you're still there."
"Jamie.." Bee paused. "He might be..."
"Don't say it." She looked up at him. "Don't even think about saying it, Bumblebee."
"Have you thought that maybe he will not come back?" Drift questioned.
She glared so harsh at him that her eyes flashed blue. She was not happy.
"Do not tell me that he won't come back." She growled.
She closed her eyes tightly again and took a deep breath.
'Please.' She whispered. 'One thing. Just tell me something...'
'Let your spark go.'
"What?!" She yelped, falling from the bench.
They all looked at her as her eyes were wide and she was on the floor.
'Allow the spark to leave you and you will see.'
'Optimus?' She asked.
'Yes.'
So Jamie closed her eyes and imagined him. He looked at her and nodded. She found the line of her spark and slowly let it come loose. She opened her eyes as the data lines flew from her skin and a blue orb began to form in front of her. It slowly began to form and what it became made her mouth fall open in shock. A male, around her age, stood in front of her. The same data lines that still ran over her skin ran over his as well.
His eyes were light blue, a trace of the optic blue. His hair was black with a few red and blue streaks. He looked at Jamie as she still sat on the floor, her mouth still open in pure shock. The bots all knew what was going on, so they allowed themselves to do the same thing. Each of them let their spark transform and they became people. Human beings, with data lines. But they could hide theirs, so they did. Jamie was still staring.
Drift, who was an average sized male with light brown hair and blue streaks through it, looked down at her, worried.
"Jamie?" He asked.
His voice was still the same, but it came from a very different form. Jamie slowly stood up as she kept her eyes on Optimus' human form. She swallowed hard as he looked at her. He held out his hand.
"Jamie?"
Her breath caught and a small squeak came from her mouth as the same voice came out of the much smaller form. She couldn't move as she looked at him.
"Optimus?" She asked softly.
He smiled, her heart going insane.
