" you accepted?" Ryan looked at me In surprise.
" um, no I gave him a chance to prove he wasn't a player, there's a difference" I toss the rest of my sand which into the garbage, and moved on towards the Nike outlet. I really needed some new cleats. The Mall was packed today! I was hoping Nike wasn't horribly busy.
" ya, sure ook you gave him a chance. Ken, there's not much of a difference there, he's growing on you. Just admit it"
I roll my eyes, and walk into Nike followed closely by Ryan. She was right, for some reason he was growing on me. That didn't mean he would change though, I had to be careful.
...
I bought the new CR7's that looks like a galaxy, they are pretty sick. I can't wait to put them on, and brake them in.
Ryan's phone buzzes, she looks at the caller ID, " hold on, it's Lincoln."
My eyes widen, when did they exchange numbers? " Lincoln??" I say in a hushed voice, she shrugs and nods then flips her phone open.
" hey, what's up" she keeps her voice sweet, but not enough for him to get the wrong idea. I appreciate her for that, we both know that's against the sister law to go after the same guy. " ya, she can be there, do you want her number"
I gasp, and shake my head rapidly. She winks and starts to rattle off the number to my cell phone " 801-927-5432, okay see ya Lincoln" she clicks the end button and smiles at me. " you have yourself a date"
I groan, and rest my head in my hands " Ry, you know I can't, I have a ton of homework!"
" well, get it done early" she picks up her shopping bags, and starts to walk towards a beauty store. "Besides, it wouldn't hurt you're the one who is giving him a chance."
I follow her into the store of beauty supplies, I watch as she matches the eye shadow to my face, and the lip gloss.
" don't worry, this is on me" she flashes me a toothy grin.
" I'm not wearing that" I say as soon as she hands the cashier the money.
" oh, but you are. Plus I have already gotten you an outfit, it's at my house"
Seriously, I hated dressing up. Ryan always went all out, and I don't see why usually soccer players don't care. But all she does is care, she loves getting her nails done and her hair and makeup. Plus she was one of the best on the field. The complete package most guys would say, and yet she chooses to be single.
...
I walk into my house to find a screaming mess, clover and max run around in circles with swords yelling " DIE!" . While Bryanna and Wendall sit on the couch reading a picture book, Quinton is yelling from the top of the stairs.
Long story short, it was loud and chaotic. I hated loud and chaotic. " shut up!" I yell, my voice echoes throughout my house as everything falls silent.
I can hear shuffling of feet from the kitchen, as my mom walks into the living room. She has dark bags under her eyes, and her hair is a rats nest. She sighs, and flops onto the couch. " I'm so glad your home, I don't know what it is but they won't be quiet" she rubs her eyes with her palms.
I sit next to her, putting my arms around her. " I'm sorry mom, do you need any help?"
" no, no I'm okay. Besides Ryan will be over in a hour to get you ready for the date"
I freeze, how in the heck does she know everything?
Suddenly feeling awkward, I get off the couch. " I'm gonna.. Go read"
My mom grunts, and closes her eyes. So I head upstairs, to the safety of my bedroom. I don't want to go on a date, not this fast. But if I never go, Ryan would never let me live it down.
I flop on my bed, opening my book immediately. Trying to forget everything that is going to happen, until my phone buzzes. I look to the side, seeing that it was an unknown number I ignored it. And went back to my reading, when it buzzes again, this time with a text I'm irritated. I pick up my phone and unlock it angrily.
The text says.
" can't wait for the date tonight,
I promise u won't regret it. Please just give it a chance.
Lincoln"
I groan, and roll over onto my back, examining my ceiling in deep thought. I was going on a date with the biggest player in school, who claims he's changed. Yeah, I was gonna regret this big time.
Despite my groaning, I get up and start to get ready. My feet drag by themselves, knowing that they really didn't want to walk out that door with Lincoln.
But then, if I thought about it. There was a part of me, even if it wasn't very big that was curious, I had never had a serious boyfriend let alone a hot one. Would it really be as good as the movies explained it to be?
...
By 7:00 Ryan has me looking like a complete girly girl. I hate it, but at the same time, I liked how my eyes popped. And my hair, it's curls bounced when I walked. I liked that too.
Ryan claps at her masterpiece, then takes out phone snapping a quick picture. " my best friends first REAL date... I can't believe it!" She puts her hands over her mouth, and pretends to start choking up.
I roll my eyes, and put on my sneakers. They match with my skinny jeans, and my Oregon ducks T-shirt. I pull my hair into a side ponytail, so that it look classy but not girly. Then I turn to Ryan, and hold my hands out to show her.
" see, I can look good. And still be able to breathe at the same time" I wink, and spray some perfume on. " let's go, he's probably waiting"
trying not to seem rude, I walk down my stairs to find Lincoln chatting with my mom. It makes me freeze, why in the crap is he talking to my mother?
When Lincoln sees me, his eyes widen and he stands up brushing his pant legs off. He smiles, showing off his perfect teeth. His hair is perfectly done, and he's wearing a shirt that shows off his biceps perfectly.
I gulp, and walk slowly down the rest of the stairs.
Lincoln fiddles with his hands, showing that I'm not the only one who is nervous. I take a deep breath and look from him, to my mom, then to Ryan.
" well, see you guys... Later"
They both grin, and hurry towards the door. My mom yanks open the door, and watches as Lincoln and I walk out. I eye them angrily, but they ignore it.
Once I'm away from my house, this would be a lot easier..
I hope.
Lincoln opens my door, I get in letting him shut it. I reach to put on my seat belt, but there isn't one.
" oh, great..there's no safety." I mumble to myself.
The driver's door opens, and Lincoln hops in. He starts the car, and looks at me smiling widely. " I hope you like carnivals."
I smile faintly, I loved carnivals actually. They always reminded me of my child hood, when my parents would take all of us to ride the roller coasters.
" yes, I like them" I say quietly as we drive away.
I take one more glance back at my house, this better not be a utterly horrible fail.
