Chapter 13: The bite

(Lani's pov)

        I heard the commotion and ran into the other room to see Lacy and Jacob from the Alpha pack standing over Isaac, who was bleeding in the floor. I covered my mouth with my hand as my eyes filled up with tears.

"If you move he dies." Said Lacy.

"She'll kill him, I would listen If I were you." Said Jacob.

I stood there, speechless, until Noah came and stood behind me.

"I heard your old Alpha removed all of you from his pack. Who's your Alpha now? Who's the Alpha for the little cry babies?" Lacy asked.

"You're looking at her." I said, my eyes turning red.

"I wouldn't try anything." She said, putting her claws to Isaac's neck.

"Lani..." Isaac whimpered.

"Quiet!" Jacob said, slapping him across the face.

All of the sudden Derek ran up behind them and elbowed them both in the side of the head, and they both fell unconscious.

"Derek?" I asked.

"Get Isaac out of here. Go!" Derek said. "I'll deal with them if they wake up."

I ran and helped Isaac up and the pack, Noah, and I all went to the hideout our pack had in the middle of the woods. We went inside and closed the camouflaged door behind us. Coraline and I put Isaac on a bed.

"Erika get my bag!" I said, the tossed it to me. I flipped through several pages of the doctors old journal until I found a page that said what we had to do to heal a wound made by an Alpha. We were down there for hours until Isaac was finally fully healed and asleep.

The pack and I were sitting on the beds talking when Noah spoke up.

"I feel useless." He said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I cant help you guys any because I'm human." He said.

"Do you actually want to be a werewolf?" I asked.

"Yes, I do."

"Well... I can bite you if you want..." I said. "Do you want me too?"

"Sure." He said. I went over and sat down next to him.

"Let me see your arm." I said, He held his arm out. I completely changed into a werewolf and bit his arm. He winced in pain, then I pulled away and changed back.

"It'll heal in a minute." I said, he nodded. He watched in shock as the bite disappeared.

"Does that mean I'm one of you now?" He asked.

"Yep, and you're in my pack." I responded. Out of nowhere we heard the door to the hideout close. I looked over and Derek stumbled in.

"Derek?" I Asked. He looked at me then collapsed to the floor.

"Derek?!?" I yelled, running to him. I turned him over and his chest/stomach area was all torn up, and It wasn't healing.

"Help me get him to a bed!" I yelled, then Derek grabbed my arm.

"No, Its okay." Derek said weakly.

"No it isn't, we're going to help you." I said.

"No, I don't deserve to live." He whispered. "I'm sorry I doubted you. You'll make an amazing Alpha Lani. You need to be careful... They're... coming..." He let out a breath and his eyes stared into space.

"Derek? Derek?!" I yelled, shaking him, and I started to cry.

"Lani! He's gone!" Noah said, putting his hand on my shoulder.

"No! He cant be!" I said back, and continued to shake Derek.

"Lani! Stop! He's dead. He's gone." I nodded and stood up slowly, my eyes not leaving Derek's body. I turned to Noah and suddenly hugged him, and continued crying.

"I don't want to be a werewolf anymore!" I cried.

"Don't say that Lani, you're perfect." Noah said.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yes." He said.
