Chapter 27: Inches from Death

     I looked through the door of the operating room and saw Noah kissing Lacy. My mouth dropped open and I stared at them. Noah turned around and saw me.

"Lani I-"

"Do talk to me."

"Please-"

"Noah shut up." I said.

"Lani I was-"

"I SAID SHUT UP!" I screamed in his face, my eyes turning red. "Your not in my pack anymore. Go away, and take your little girlfriend with you."

"Lani thats not what-"

"Noah leave me alone. Get out of here, I have someone else to worry about."

"Please-"

"Noah get away from me!" I screamed, I turned around and Slashed Noah across his chest. I grabbed his arms and slung him into the other room to Lacy's feet, then slammed the door.

"Lani you just turned him into an Omega. A wolf without a pack." Scott said.

"I don't care, All I want to do right now is focus on Liam, and if you want to keep your spot in the pack I suggest you shut up about that. I'll talk about it when I want to." I said. He nodded and sat down on a chair.

"First we need to wake him up." Said the vet.

"I am not slapping him."

"Thats not how we do things around here. I'm just going to give him this injection and he should wake up, but he'll be in real pain." He said. "The wolfsbane is probably getting near his heart, and trust me, it HURTS. I've had to deal with this a lot."

"So what do I need to do?" I asked.

"I'll show you when he wakes up." He said, putting the thin needle in Liam's arm. Liam gradually woke up. He started breathing heavily and his face had pain written all over it. A minute later he was squirming around, his eyes were yellow because of the pain.

"What do I need to do?!" I asked.

"Give me your hand." The vet said. I put my hand in his and he turned it so my palm was facing up.

"Take Liam's hand. It won't heal him, but it'll ease the pain." The vet explained.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." He said. I looked at Liam, then slipped my hand into his. He gripped my hand tightly and my veins started turning black. He started calming down, and fell asleep, like the pain just stopped. I put my hand to my mouth in amazement.

"Okay, that should ease the pain for now, but one of you have to bite him, and It cant be the alpha. It's like what you did with Stiles, it'll push the contaminated blood out of his body. Any volunteers?" He asked.

"I'll do it." Said Boyd.

"Great. Whenever you're ready." The vet said. Boyd went to Liam and bit his arm. Liam sat up, and started coughing up the same black stuff Stiles was. He started majorly panicking and I went around the other side of the bed and put my hands on his shoulders.

"Hey, You're healing." I said. "You're going to be okay."

"Why does all of this stuff happen to me?" He asked.

"It's not you, it's me ticking off the other pack. I shouldn't have even bit you, you would be fine, but no your sitting in an operating room hacking up black goop all over the place." I said.

"It's not your fault, I told you to bite me." He said.

"But I made the other pack mad."

"Stop downing yourself Lani, It's all gonna be okay." Isaac said.

"Whatever." I said. "Where are we gonna go? Its like three in the morning."

"You guys can stay here if you want." Said the vet. "There's
a room downstairs."

"Why does there seem to be a 'secret basement' everywhere we go?" Cora asked, gaining a couple small laughs.

"You guys go to bed." The vet said. We all told him goodnight and went into the basement. I stopped on the way down and turned back to the vet.

"I still have your bag, I can get it for you-"

"Keep it."

"What?"

"You need it more than I do." He said.

"Really?"

"Yes, really. Go to bed kid." He said. I smiled and he shut the door behind me. We all picked a set of bunk beds and went to bed, in the basement of a vets office.
