Chapter 4!!!!

Hey peeps it's still me and em is still a lazy bum

Fanfica!!!

I stood by the door, holding my breath and waiting for Luke's response. For a moment I heard nothing, then soft footsteps as he retreated. I let out the breath and slid down, sitting against the door.

"Shit." I muttered, bringing my knees forward and resting my chin on them. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have done any of this. I had managed to keep a quiet, nice friendship with Luke all these years. We had always been really close, playing around like we had today. But after last night I didn't think we could stay like that. I shouldn't have done anything. I should've just stayed up here and drank my melted Starbucks, or fallen asleep at a normal time.

The tears were starting to form as I heard the front door open.

"HEY!" Olivia called from downstairs,

"I'm back from Taco Hell!"

I wiped my damp eyes and laughed, using the door handle to pull myself up.

"Luke! Pick up your nasty boy boxers! Sky? You here?"

"Yeah!" I ran down the annoyingly wide steps, cursing them yet again for being so large.

Luke followed me silently. I felt stiff, paying attention to each of my movements.

"Hey Sky! Wanna go to Taco Hell?"

"What the hell Olivia. You JUST got back from there."

"Yeah, well I have a double late shift. I'm only on break."

"Actually," Luke said, speaking for the first time, "that's just a normal late shift." Olivia rolled her eyes at him.

"Anyways, wanna come with me?"

"No," I said, automatically hating myself for turning down an opportunity to escape Luke. "I still have homework."

She glared at me playfully.

"Fine!" She sighed.

Luke picked up Snickers. "The dogs need a bath." He looked at Olivia,

"YOU can take care of Mardy and Arabella."

She groaned.

"Sky, you do it."

I just nodded, walking upstairs to turn the radio off. Mardy and Arabella followed me up the stairs. I grabbed some towels and walked into the bathroom where Luke had the bath running. He was concentrating on plugging the drain and didn't notice me enter. He had Snickers sitting next to him and a towel draped across the toilet. Snickers glanced at me briefly, the good dog, before staring at the other two puppies who had started barking at each other.

"Oh. Hey," Luke said, blushing.

"Hey."

I picked up Snickers and placed him in the tub with Mardy. Arabella was too hyper in general, and she didn't work we'll with others. Luke started to wash Snickers and handed me the shampoo. I did the same with Mardy. We had done this before, but today was exceptionally awkward. We were ignoring each other so well we didn't have to even ignore. We dried the dogs and i carefully placed Arabella in the tub. She instantly started kicking around and getting water everywhere. The tension snapped as we both started laughing. We paused, looking at each other, then laughing again. Luke held her down as I tried to pour shampoo into her fur. When she was all soapy and soaked, she wiggled out of Luke's hands and ran for her life. She jumped over the edge of the tub, running all over us and getting us wet. I looked over at Luke. His whole shirt was drenched and soapy. I giggled as he took it off. We turned to look at Arabella. She was sitting at the door, tongue out and tail wagging. I smiled, picking her up and finishing her bath. Luke got up and opened the door to go dry Snickers better as I held out the towel for Arabella. She jumped right past the towel and out the door.

"Fuck!" I got up, running after her and screaming.

"Luke! Ara! Help!" He groaned, running after her into the kitchen. His long legs gave him an advantage, so I went around the other side to help corner her. When I turned around the corner, I ran straight into Luke who had a dripping puppy in his hands. We both fell, Arabella jumping out of his hands on the way. I landed right on top of him with an 'oof!'.

We both laughed, looking down, and up, at each other. I looked into his piercing blue eyes.

"Hey." He whispered.

We both leaned in at the same time, eyes closed and lips connecting. The kiss wasn't long enough. We pulled away, locking eyes and panting.

"Hey." I said, leaning back in.
