Chapter 14: Fire

~Noah's POV~

So after a couple weeks of healing, I'm back to work. In other words, protecting Alpha Kai and now Beta Kiran as well. Blitz can fucking defend herself. Alpha Kai had actually stood up to her finally. I didn't tell him about what Alpha Vincent said, you know... About Blitz faking being Alpha Kai's mate. Oh wait till he finds out. Wouldn't surprise me though. She seems like a rotten spoiled little bitch. She plays nice to gain your trust and then squashes it like a grape. But again, what do I know? Nothing, apparently. Oh how I love my trust issues some days.
"How's your ear?" Alpha Kai asked.
"Sore. But I can still barely hear out of it. You know when you're sick that you can't really hear well? Cause you're all congested and such." I said.
Alpha Kai nodded.
"That's what it feels like." I said.
"That must suck." Alpha Kai said.
"You have no idea." I said.
"Still feel awful about that." Beta Kiran said.
I brushed it off.
"And as I've said, I started it. You've no reason to feel bad." I said.
Beta Kiran nodded.

"I've been training myself to use my left ear more. So I'm not completely useless." I said.
"Useless? Not a cold chance in hell." Alpha Kai said.
"Yeah. You still preform your job like the ear incident never happened." Beta Kiran said.
"I try." I said.
"You're doing fine." Alpha Kai said.
I grunted in response.
"See how he can be disrespectful at times?" Alpha Kai said.
"Sorry Alpha." I said.
I know it drives him bananas when I call him by his title. He glared daggers at me.
"I swear to you boy, I will slap you." Alpha Kai said.
Beta Kiran laughed.
"And he just calls me Kiran." Beta Kiran said.
I glared at him.
"I will end you boy." I said.
"That's what you said to me and look what happened to you." Beta Kiran said.
"Difference is I'm joking. And it's me, not my POS wolf." I said.
"POS?" Beta Kiran and Alpha Kai asked.
"Piece of shit." I said.
"Ah." They said.
"He still hasn't apologized for that wretched day." I mumbled.
"And he probably won't." Alpha Kai said.
"I hate him. I honest to God do." I said.
"The Moon Goddess wouldn't want that." Beta Kiran said.
"She gave me a shitty wolf. And pulling that fucking stunt? Of course I'm gonna hate the bastard." I said.
Alpha Kai sighed.
"I'm sure he doesn't like hearing that." Alpha Kai said.
"He hasn't spoken to me since that day." I said.
"He must be really pissed." Beta Kiran said.
"Better be at himself." I mumbled.
"Oh don't we all wish." Beta Kiran said.
"I know I do." I said.
"Same." Beta Kiran said.
"Yep." Alpha Kai agreed.
I sighed heavily. What am I gonna do with him? I can't get rid of him. I need him because of my position. Unfortunately. I wish he would just listen to me and fix himself. Before he gets me killed. But that probably won't happen anytime soon. Not now at least. He's such an ass.

I love my position to pieces. I wouldn't give it up for the world. But my wolf... That mongrel mutt is always in the way. I have to constantly keep him in check. I need to strength up. So I can keep control over him. So what happened before doesn't happen again.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I thought the wounds would only show on me. Not us both." My wolf said.
"Oh now you fucking talk, ye bitch?" I asked.
"I said I was sorry!" My wolf shouted.
"There's only so many times you can say sorry before the word means nothing anymore." I said.
My wolf growled.
I knew I was pissing him off. But he needs to be angry at himself for once. Not me or anyone else. It's his fault. He's the shit head who didn't give me back control. I hate the ratchet, crazy  bitch.
"He finally talk to you?" AlphaKai asked.
"Fucking finally." I said.
Alpha Kai and Beta Koran nodded in sync. Creepy.

"He apologize?" Beta Kiran asked.
"Yeah. But I'm not taking it." I said.
"Why?" Beta Kiran asked.
"He can suck it. He caused us both unnecessary pain. Now tell me why I should forgive it?" I asked.
"True." Beta Kiran said.
"Just try. For you both." Alpha Kai said.
I shrugged off the suggestion.
"Noah... Please forgive me." My wolf begged.
"Why should I?" I asked.
"Because we're each other's best friends." My wolf said.
"Huh. Could've fooled me." I said.
My wolf whimpered.
"Noah..." He pleaded.
"Fine. You screw up once more..." I warned.
"I won't." My wolf promised.
I could practically see him jumping up to all four of his paws.
"Fine. I forgave the asshole. Ya happy?" I snapped.
They nodded.
"Totally." Beta Kiran said.
"Definitely." Alpha Kai said.

"Do you smell that?" Beta Kiran asked.
Oh yeah. It smelt like something was... Burning. Oh fuck. I shifted and ran, knowing my wolf form was faster. Alpha Kai and Beta Kiran did the same and followed in flank behind me. I growled when I saw the rafters on the ceiling on fire. Just as I thought. I ran to the door. Beta Kiran pulled on my tail to get me to stop. Then pulled again, backing me up. I growled, but then he looked up. A piece of the rafter came crashing down right in front of the door. Right where I was standing. Hot damn.
"Now what?" Alpha Kai asked.
I looked up at the window in the living room. That's our only chance. But it was one of those skylight windows so it was super high up.
"That window! Beta Kiran will stand on my back, and Alpha Kai will jump on using I and Beta Kiran. Then Beta Kiran jumps up and you Alpha Kai catches him." I said.
"What about you?" Alpha Kai asked.
"I'll find my own way out." I said.
"Noah no!" Alpha Kai shouted.

"It's my job to protect you guys so just DO IT!" I shouted.

They whined but did as instructed. Beta Kiran balanced himself on my back and Alpha Kai jumped up and onto the ledge next to the window. He shattered it with his front paws to make it easier.
"Kiran jump!" Alpha Kai shouted.
And jump he did. I felt the weight off of me as I watched Alpha Kai catch Beta Kiran. Alpha Kai is right. There's no way I can jump up the that ledge. It must be 12 to 13 feet off the ground. But our wolf forms can jump it which is why I thought of it.
"Noah!" Alpha Kai and Beta Kiran shouted.
"I'll be fine. Just get to safety." I said.
I made sure Alpha Kai and Beta Kiran made it the ground safely. I exhaled when I heard that they did. On thing I didn't tell them... That window is most likely the only way out. By now the fire has already covered most of the entrances and exits. Oh joy. But let's search around just in case. I ran to the office where we started. There's a window there but the rafter above doesn't look so sturdy now.
"Should we chance it?" I asked my wolf.
"We could get hurt or worse, Noah. There has to be another exit." My wolf said.
I noticed I was running much slower. My chest felt constricted. Like I couldn't breathe. The smoke was getting to be too much.

"Take over. I can't anymore." I said.

~Noah's Wolf's POV~

Noah gave me control. But I know he's weak and he'll die soon. We'll big die soon if I don't get us out of here quick. I sluggishly ran up the stairs to the third floor. The second floor was just storage mainly. The third floor was like bedrooms more offices. I coughed. Wolf coughs are lot scarier than you would imagine. I ran into Noah's room hoping for a way out.

Praying for a way out.

But as I walked in the whole room was a blaze. That's out. So I turned on my heel and ran the opposite direction. I jumped over fallen rafters and doors. It seemed like a reoccurring theme with all the rooms. And the third floor is the last floor in this place. It was becoming increasingly harder to breathe as time went on. I collapsed to the floor. The world spinning and becoming disoriented.
"You gotta... Go..." Noah softly said.
I whimpered in response.
"Noah... I can't. I can't breathe. And neither can you." I said.
"You too...?" Noah's asked.
"Yes. Me too." I said.
"I guess this is it huh?" Noah asked.
His voice was becoming much more weak and distant.
"I guess so. If this is the end... Then it was a pleasure knowing and being with you." I said.
"Same here..." Noah said.
I huffed our air. The smoke was sinking as it does. The world around me was fading to black. The ringing in my ears fading.

"Thank you." Noah's ever so distant voice said.

The world went black and I couldn't hear anything anymore.
