"Instead of going the movies, we should watch a movie at home. I'm kind of tired from practice."Amaru yawned and laid back in the front seat.

"It doesn't matter to me. Let's just see what Aaliyah thinks."Damita shrugged. They were on their way to pick up Aaliyah from her first day of track practice.

"You know I asked Amari to come over today right? I think you two should talk."Amaru explained.

"I'm not really in the mood to deal with your sister's shit today. She thinks she has an attitude problem, but where do you think she got it from?" Damita asked, looking at her son over her glasses.

"But momma..She said she wants to speak to you. She said she wants to makeup with you."Amaru sighed. "She misses you."

"Yeah...whatever. You all can spend some time with your sister tonight. I have some work to get done anyway"Damita shrugged. Amaru sighed and looked down at his phone, he could already see that this wasn't going to go well.

He lied to his mother and to his sister, but he thought it was for the best.

"Speaking of work. How come you haven't been going?"Amaru asked.

"Because I'm the boss and I can go when I feel like it. I just haven't been feeling work."She replied.

The backseat door opened and Aaliyah climbed in the car, catching the tail end of their conversation.

"Ugh. Momma why you always gotta pick him up first?"Aaliyah scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"I am so tired of the two of you arguing about this front seat. I'm going to just make both of you sit in the back."Damita chuckled.

"Mommy it's not fair!! He already drives the car. He gets to sit in the front too."Aaliyah pouted.

"You're such a baby."Amaru laughed.

"Now Aaliyah..You had the chance to get into drivers ed just like your brother. You said you weren't ready. Besides, your brother can't drive this car without me in it until November."Damita explained.

Aaliyah crossed her arms and looked out of the window. Sometimes she could be a brat just like her mother.

"What do you two wanna eat tonight? Do you want me to cook or order something?"Damita asked.

"You don't have to cook tonight momma. You gotta rest so you can feel better."Aaliyah replied from the back seat.

"Uh. I have depression not a terminal illness."Damita chuckled. "Tell me what you want to do, because once I pass this light I'm going home."

"Just goto Popeyes. We all want chicken anyway."Amaru laughed.

"I thought you two said that y'all wanted to start eating healthy."Damita giggled lightly.

"I thought you said the same thing mother."Amaru replied, getting close to his mother's face.

"Lies. I don't have anyone to stay fine for. I can't eat whatever I want."Damita rolled her eyes as she pulled into the drive thru.

"Can we get 3 sides instead of 2?"Aaliyah asked.

"Alright. Y'all want sweet tea or lemonade?"Damita asked.

"Lemonade!!"Amaru and Aaliyah said together.

When Damita pulled up the window she ordered a 12 piece mixed with red beans & rice, mashed potatoes and greens beans with a gallon of lemonade.

"I'm sooo hungry. I've been running all day. Our new coach is so mean momma. "Aaliyah sighed, as she grabbed her practice bag from the backseat.

"New coach? What happened to Coach Jones?"Damita asked, grabbing Amaru bag so that he could carry the food.
