Lilly’s POV:
People hurrying about, kids crying and a lot of announcements. I hate airports!
I tried to fight my way through the crowd that was rushing towards the exit. It seemed like everyone was in a hurry. And I wanted no more then to get out of this crowd as soon as possible. I bumped into an elderly man with my suitcase and he gave me an angry look. “Sorry!” I said. “Outrageous teenagers!” I heard him saying to his self-whilst shaking his head. Whatever, I thought. I could finally see the exit doors and when I had entered the arrival part of the airport the mass was even bigger. How on earth was somebody supposed to find someone here? I stood still for a second which caused a lot of people bumping in to me and looked around. I got onto my tip toes to get a better view of all the heads in the crowd.
“Lilly!” I heard a voice shout.
I looked around but couldn’t find origin of the voice.
“Lilly! Over here!” I turned left to see a blond quiff in the crowd. It was making its way past reunited couples and children towards me.
I moved from the left side to the right side to get a better few. Finally I saw the pair of blue eyes and the big grin.
Luke came hurrying towards me with open arms. I let go of my suitcase and my bag and ran into his arms. He picked me up and swung me around.
“I’m soooo happy to see you!” he said putting me down again.
“Me too!”
“I missed my better half!” he said smiling at me.
“Aw you bootlicker!” I nudged him.
“Uhh English accent going strong here.” He said grabbing my suitcase and bag.
“Well, what did you expect? I spent a year and a half on that little island so I had enough time to pick it up.”
“I like it. It’s cute!” he pinched my cheek which caused me to squeak.
We walked out of the building and over to the train station.
“Does nobody have time to come and pick me up?” I asked sarcastic.
“Ben and Jack are on a holiday together with their girlfriends…” he rolled his eyes “…Dad’s on a business trip and mum has a night shift.”
“Ah. I guess it’s really important to them to have me back here in Australia.”
“Hey. Head up. They have missed you a lot, especially Mum. She didn’t like to be the only female in the house.”
“Although I might have missed you the most. Little one.” He said and tapped my nose.
I giggled. It was nice to joke around with Luke again.
“I’m not little!”
“But younger!”
“Gosh. It’s starting already. I’ve only just gotten back from the other side of the world and all you can think of is reminding me that you’re older. It’s only seven minutes. Get over it Luke.”
He always liked to emphasize that he’s the older one of us both.
“Seven minutes is a lot though.”
“Whatever you say!”
I was really tired since it had been a long flight. I fell asleep on Luke’s shoulder during the train ride home.
He nudged me softly when we arrived. It was only a short stroll to our house. Luke pulled my suitcase up our garden path and got out the key from his pocket to unlock the door. He opened it and let me in first. Everything was dark. Suddenly the light was turned on and a boy came running up to me shouting “Welcome Home!”
