" Alex we have ten minute before deten- " I tried to warn Alex but stopped myself when I realized that I was about to tell her brother and Bethany that we had detention. She gave me the death glare. I knew in that moment that I really messed up.
" I'm sorry, did I hear you right? Were you about to say that you guys have detention? Alex you know what I said about getting detention again. And you cut class!" Yelled Bethany.
"Sssh, Bethany, people are sleeping here. Yes it was bad that she cut class but her sister is here. Cut her some slack," Her brother said defending her, " But Alex if you have detention then you should probably go. I don't want you to get into anymore trouble."
I knew that Alex was going to be heart broken leaving her sister in these conditions. But without saying a word, Alex waked over to her sister and sat by her bed. What we all thought was her saying her goodbyes was the complete opposite. She gripped onto Milly's arm so tight that we all thought that she was going to pry it off.
" YOU CAN'T MAKE ME GO AWAY!" She screamed. All of us were taken aback by her behavior. Her brother got up to try and reason with her. Him of all people should know that Alex never listens to reason. He barely could reach out his arm before Alex kicked him in the stomach.
" SHE NEEDS ME!!!!!" Alex yelled. Her brother fell to the ground clutching his stomach in pain. Alex, though small, was mighty and fierce. It was in this moment that I knew I had to step in. I walked over to her more cautiously trying not to repeat the same mistake as her brother. I knew not to try and grab her or pry her hands off her sister. I just sat on the be next to her.
" Alex, " She looked at me with these cold eyes that could kill. I made a shiver go down my spine, " If we leave now then we won't have to be in detention as long. She might let us out early. Then you can come back here. But the longer we wit here, the less time you'll have with Milly after." I explained. She knew I was right. Alex slowly let go of her sisters arm, not leaving her gaze. She just just sat on the hospital bed and put her head in her arms and started crying more. I knew that she wasn't going to fight anymore, so I went over and picked up Alex and made our way to the door. Her brother and Bethany both looked shocked on how well Alex cooperated with me. They just started at her lifeless body in my arms. Alex's brother mouthed ' Thank you' to me and Alex and I left the room.
