8| The Ride

Skylar POV

"So, do you wanna stop and get something to eat or something? " He asked me

When I was heading out of the party that boy with that birthmark on his face stopped me, giving me all types of compliments and telling me that I shouldn't walk the Canal alone at this time of night. I didn't tell him that I literally stayed not even a full block away so I just went with it and now we've been kind of just riding around.

I heard Rakim call me but when I tried to turn back, he turned me around telling me that Rakim  just want me to stay behind to help clean up.

"What's your name again?" I asked feeling uneasy all of a sudden

"I go by Carti." he answered

"Is that your real name? "I quizzed

"No, but it's what I go by. You know like a nickname." He answered, taking his eyes off the road to look at me.

It got quiet after that. I can't believe I've went to my first party by myself and now I'm out joy riding with a total stranger..

"I got a question.."

I looked over at him, ready for the real reason he wanted me to come with him. If he think I'm just some hoe that'll just give up her pus--

"How you know Rocky?"
He asked, silencing my thoughts

I gave his question a quick thought, but the answer came to me quite easily.

"I don't. I mean we sort of just met."
I answered in all honesty

My phone started going off

"Is that your boyfriend? "
He asked, trying to look at my screen

I laughed
"Mind your business Carti."

It was my mom asking me where I was at. I let out a sigh knowing I wasn't going hear the end of this. I just texted her letting her know I'm safe and on my way home.

"You think you can take me home now? "
I asked

"Yea but we ain't get nothing to eat."
He said

"Oh um, I wasn't hungry no way so it's ok." I told him. I gave him directions on where to go, we honestly hadn't even went far.

We pulled up in front of my house and as I was getting out I felt a firm yet gentle hand grab me to  stop me.

"You didn't even tell me your name."

I just laughed because this nigga never even ask for it.

"It's Skylar."

"That's pretty but I got one more question" he said holding up his index finger.

"Yes? "
I said getting irritated

"Can I get your number?.. You know, to make sure you ok when you get inside."
He asked

"No."
I said seriously and his face read pure disbelief.

I had a laughing fit for like a whole minute

"But I'll take yours."

He then chimed in with the laughter. I saved his number, thanked him for the ride then headed in the house.

I hope my mom was asleep because I didn't feel like giving nobody no explanations plus I had school in a couple of hours.

I walked in and locked the door behind me. The house was dark but of course I knew my way around. So I maneuvered to my room in the dark.
I had made it all the way to my room and laid on my bed.

"SKYLAR AMERIE WRIGHT! " my mother yelled
