32| Broken

Rocky POV

I made it back to my house and just sat in the car for a minute, coming back to reality.

Realizing that I still haven't found Carti and the wound that was closed for years has been reopened.

I then remembered what Skylar told me, her birthday is tomorrow. A part of me wanted to go back to her and then again I wish I could cut all ties with her entirely. I feel like the universe is repaying me for my actions because what are the odds that I'd end up with her? Is God playing a joke on me?

I let out a sigh then got out of my car, going into my house. I walked over to my couch and saw the picture of myself and Amanda lying there and instantly thought back to what my mama told me.

I can't even fucking apologize because I have no idea of where she's at. I just sat thinking when I heard a knock on my door. I peeped thru my curtains behind me and saw Skylar.

I slowly got up and answered the door for her.

"Hey um.. I just wanted to stop by and see if you were ok and bring you your plate "

I scratched the my hair akwardly, not knowing if I wanted to turn her away or invite her in.

"Thanks but you didn't have to do all that"
I said

"No it's ok I wanted too, here "
She said handing the plate to me

I took the plate and gave her a half smile then we both just kinda stood there .

"You wanna come in for a second? "
My mouth asked before I could even think

She nodded her head and I moved over so she could come in. She took a seat on the couch and I went to the kitchen and put the food in the refrigerator.

I walked over to where Sky was and took a seat next to her.

We both sat there silent, me looking at my shoes and her playing with her fingers. Is like she could sense that something was up, the shit was just in the air

I then broke the silence

"Sky I need to tell you something.. "
I said facing her

She looked at me when those pretty brown eyes and I just couldn't take it. She batted her long eyelashes waiting for me to speak.

"I. . Like you Skylar and it's really taking alot for me to tell you this because it ain't even my style to be catching feelings for no chick but I see that you're more than that. You different and that's gone take you a long way so don't ever look upon these hoes thinking they got something that you don't because it ain't true.. "
I said looking in her eyes

She nodded her head and continued to listen to me

"So what I'm trying to say is. . You special and I don't think it would be in your best interest to get involved with me."

She looked at me intently and I swear I saw her pupils dilate. I prepared myself for a outrageous ass comeback, that's about how it goes when I do this to females.

She sat there rubbing her bottom lip and looked like she was in thought

"Why Rakim? Was it something I did?"
She she softly

"No you didn't do anything wrong"

"Then why? Why is it that when I didn't want you you wanted me and now that I want you, you don't want me? "
She she asked turning red, losing her cool

"Sky it ain't like that. I'm trying to help you, I'm not good for you. My life is all fucked up and I don't want you to get caught up in my shit. "

"So what. . You don't want to see me again?"
She asked me

"No.. "

It seemed like her tears fell down in slow motion. I turned away from her not wanting to see her cry. Once again I'd broken another heart

She got up slowly and walked out the door.

I sat there with my face in my hands. My life just felt so surreal right now.
