Chapter Five: Finally Meet

Jared was fast asleep, was is the key word. He was sleeping quite soundly until Erick came up and kneed him in the gut to wake him up. Jared then sprang up, holding his gut and groaning in pain.
"What the hell?!"
Jared snapped at Erick and Erick chuckled.
"Today's the day."
Erick said as he sifted through Jared's room for something presentable to wear. Once Erick found something that wasn't part of the clothes that haven't been washed since the dawn of time he threw it at Jared and crossed his arms over his chest. The small man himself wore a long black shirt that had the sleeves rolled up and some simple black jeans without a scratch on them. Jared grabbed the clothes and made a face at Erick.
"Are you gonna watch me get dressed? Get out."
"Ok, ok fine."
Erick said as he left the room and went into the kitchen. Jared changed his clothes, ignoring the scars on his torso as much as he possibly could and he grabbed a jacket and put it on as he walked out of the room. He noticed Erick brewed some coffee and he grabbed a glass and poured have the can of sugar in it and did the same with the creamer. Erick stuck his tongue out in disgust.
"How can you drink that?"
Jared shrugged.
"By putting it in my mouth and swallowing."
"Ok smart ass, hurry up. My dad's gonna also explain to us what the fuck happened to us once the entire team is together. He says theirs five of us."
Jared made a face as he thought. They both then left the house and drove to Richland's Space Institution and this time without sneaking in walked into the council room and sat down. They must have waited an hour or so before someone came in. A tall young man with blonde hair, Donovan softly closed the door behind him as he approached the two. As soon as all their eyes met their chest lit up.
Red, orange, yellow.
Erick and Jared smiled widely and motioned for Donovan to sit down. Donovan looked quite dolled up wearing a finely pressed suit with his hair slicked back to reveal his slightly pointed ears. Once Donovan sat down they both held their hands out to him.
"I'm Jared and that's Erick, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Donovan shook their hands.
"Donovan Reactes, the pleasure is all mine."
Jared stifled a giggle from how professional this man sounded and turned to the door as another person entered the room. A small girl with piercing red eyes came in, she looked kind of angry but the three didn't mind much once her chest glowed a bright blue. Amelia wore a black button up collared shirt with black shorts and shoes to match.
"Hey there, I'm Jared, this is Erick and Donovan. Thanks for coming."
Amelia sat down furthest away from everyone and nodded as she spoke.
"Amelia Wyns."
"It's a pleasure."
Jared responded as he chuckled nervously. The four sat there for another hour.
"Well seems as though the fifth isn't coming so we'll just star-"
With that Maria came bursting into the room, panting heavily. She had on black jeans and boots that went up to her knees and a long sleeved turtle neck shirt with gloves, her long hair was put up in a mostly undone pony tail. Maria sighed and sat next to Jared.
"And now we have everyone! I'm Jared, that's Erick, Donovan, and Amelia."
Maria waved at all of them and cleared her throat before speaking.
"My name is Maria."
She smiled and shook hands with everyone but Amelia who looked at her quizzically.
"Now that everyone's here, we're going to be told by general Wilkins exactly what we were chosen to do."
As if he knew his name was said Wilkins walked into the room and sat down.
"You all are going to protect the universe from pure blooded Nazmerianians. You all each have a specific power for doing so that is only used by you. Now I'm gonna go down the line and point to you, I want you to tell me which color your chest glowed once the woman touched you."
Wilkins first pointed to Jared.
"Orange."
"Wind, you can use the wind as a weapon or create your own wind, you have your own specific weapon that I don't know. That correlates with your personality."
He then pointed to Erick.
"Red."
Wilkins made a face as he spoke.
"That's not shocking. That is fire, once again you can use fire as you wish or create your own."
He then pointed to Donovan.
"Yellow."
"You can control light, your gonna be the leader of this group."
"Huh? Why?!"
Erick and Jared both whined.
"In order to get the light ability you need to be a natural born leader, something neither of you obviously are."
"Wait, wait so then what makes me orange and him red."
Wilkins sighed as he turned to Jared.
"You are carefree and funny, you tend to be the type of person who goes head first into things. You also tend to make jokes as a way to calm down. As for Erick he's ill tempered and tends to think very one sided like, but he's also the type who doesn't let fear control him."
Wilkins then turned to Maria.
"Purple."
"You control darkness, this means your the type who stands back and is more likely to view what you have to go against before busting in. You tend to take your time and not let your emotions get the better of you."
He then turned to Amelia.
"Blue."
"You control ice. Your cool as your power suggests, your the one who will stay in the back and think of numerous possibilities before going anywhere. You tend to think very logically and strategically."
"So then how do we unlock these powers?"
Amelia asked.
"First you get over to the others, you must all join hands."
Amelia groaned at this and moved to the others and they all grabbed one another's hands. As soon as that happened all of their chests glowed even brighter than before and the room became illuminated with color. Then it dimmed down and they all looked at their left wrists to see a bracelet on them with a stone in the middle with each individuals color.
They all gasped and touched the gems. Instantly Erick tried to take it off and Wilkins looked just about ready to bang his head against the table.
"You can't take it off, that is what makes you her knight."
"Her knight?"
Maria asked quietly from the back.
"You all are now knights of the goddess, the goddess is the woman you met and she choose all of you to protect that which she created."
