Her POV.
Less than a minute after the phone call, my front door was barged open and Nasir slipped in whereas I sat, petrified on my bed.
"Yo! Is the first aid kit with you? Is there any antiseptic left in it?" He spoke while watching a tiny injury he had sustained on his right leg.Normally, I would have rose and tended to his wound as I questioned him on how he got the wound in the first place. But that night, I couldn't even move, all I could do was chant 'settle down' in my head.
When I failed to react to his state, Nasir approached me eagerly. He stood by my right side, scowling at my statue like state.
"What's wrong?" He asked cautiously, while looking down at me.
I suddenly burst into laughter and he became startled. I collapse into my bed, still laughing hysterically. He became even more wary.
He stood quietly and waited for me to quit laughing or to stop laughing so hard. After a while, I did stop. I looked up at him and witnessed his eyes projecting words and questions towards me. And well I just wasn't really sane at that moment; when I woke up that day I had no idea that someone would ask me to marry him. Thus, I did something I hardly do, I acted without analyzing or thinking about the aftermath.
I looked up at his face still lying supine and spoke, or should I say mumble.
"He just proposed to me. " I blabbered.
Nasir went quiet at first, his expression that of complete confusion. But then he added one and one and a gasp escaped his mouth.
"What?! "He squealed. His eyes were so wide that it was as if they were about to roll out of the sockets.
Maybe it was hearing the words from my own mouth or Nasir's sudden loss of articulating sentences, it could also be that I realized I had just told Nasir something he wasn't supposed to know. Whatever the case, I lapsed into hysteria once more, laughing so badly that tears made their debut. While I was doing that, Nasir limped out of the room, quickly. Little did I know that it wasn't his room he had gone to, rather it was Ya Najib's and then Ya Nur's.
Less than fifteen minutes after being proposed to, once again my door was flung open and all three of my brothers galloped into the room while I paced around my room wondering about the best course of actions.
I looked at them and from the state of their faces and Nasir's guilty expression, I quickly knew why they were in my room. Ya Nur's face was puffy his eyes red, It looked completely confused as if he didn't know why he was in my room. Ya Najib's face however looked anything but calm, as he surveyed my room with dried up saliva that had trailed all the way to his left cheek.I stopped immediately I saw them and removed my fingers from my mouth; no I wasn't sucking my fingers! I have a nasty habit of biting off my nails when I am deep in thought.
"What's going on? Are you ok? " said Ya Nur, the first to break the silence.
"Nura? Are you ok? " Ya Najib said almost immediately. His tone, less grumpy.Well I was confused. What I was expecting them to say was not that! Something along the line of 'HE DID WHAT?' would have been the ideal thing.
'Am I not supposed to be ok? ' I wondered."I am ok. Why are you all here? Why do you look worried? " I voiced out my thoughts.
Evidently, they themselves did not have the answer to my questions, so they stared down at a someone who did. Nasir, the mover and shaker of the whole affair. They didn't even speak, they allowed their eyes do all the interrogation for them, as did I. But Nasir didn't break, so they relayed to me just how they had managed to be in my room.
