I sat at a random table, stressing out.

Lucy had migrated towards me after she walked in a couple minutes ago talking about our rent. It was due soon, really soon and the last thing I wanted was to be evicted out of our home. "We need to look for work, I don't want to get kicked out of our place, it's perfect." I rubbed my face.

Natsu came over with Happy who was chowing down on a fish. He didn't seem as happy as he usually was, laying his head down on the table. I had an idea why, Erza was coming back and he wasn't all too excited. It was bound to happen though, jobs don't keep you away forever... unless you just grab the whole Request Board and run off it with it.

"Come look with me, there has to be something easy we can take on that'll pay us enough." I got up and grabbed Lucy's wrist, slightly jogging over to the Request Board. "There's finding a magic bracelet, breaking a spell on a cursed cain, reading someone's love horoscope, and hunting a volcano demon." Lucy read them aloud, there was a variety of them but half were kind of stupid.

Mirajane came over and smiled at us. "Any you two are interested in? Just tell me when you pick, I'm in charge while Master Makarov is gone." Oh, I had almost forgotten about the Guild Master conference he was attending, but he did only tell me about it once. He wanted me to come with, start taking on some responsibilities as a Guild leader since I was considerably next in line. Sure, I wasn't blood but I was still his daughter.

I was actually suppose to take care of the Guild every time he left but I just couldn't, I had a team and loved doing jobs. Mirajane never went on quests anymore so that's why he passed the responsibility over to her. Plus, another reason he wanted me to go was so that all of the Guild Masters could reunite with me. Half of them had babysat me when I was younger and Master Bob had dressed me up in so many silly outfits, so that would have just been embarrassing.

"What's the conference about?" Lucy tilted her head to the side.

"It's just one for the Guild Masters to talk about their Guilds and what's going on in the Magic world currently. It's kind of a lower type of Magic Council if you think about it." Mirajane pulled out a light pen from her dresses pocket. It allowed the user to write in the air. "The Council, Era, is the most powerful organization in the Magical world. They're only one step below the government. It has ten members and it's their job to uphold all magical rules and regulations. If a Wizard breaks magical law they would be tried by the Council. Then there's the different Guild Master leagues which are local groups that work together, then the individual Master leagues. It's their job to pass on the decrees of the Council. They also communicate with other Guild Masters on a regular basis."

"But if things fall apart then there's definite trouble, the Dark Guilds could end up rising from the shadows and trying to take over." I bit my lip, shaking my head. It was scary to think about in all honesty, if only some people had seen what those low lifes would do for money...

"Dark Guilds?"

"Those are the Wizards who've chosen not to join any of the leagues and are usually involved in magical crimes. They take on requests that have been banned." Mirajane frowned and put the pen back.

"Can you guys pick a job already?" Natsu pouted slightly while Happy hopped up. "We picked the last time now it's your girls turn!"

"This isn't a team that I'm apart of anymore," Lucy rolled her eyes with a pout on her face, "You guys only wanted me because I was blonde and perfectly fit for that stupid job."

I shook my head, she was honestly so dramatic. "I wanted you for you, they do too. They just have a hard way of showing that they care unless it's a cry for battle."
