(Your P.O.V)
Once I first entered the doors, I scanned the hallway ahead of me, only seeing a few servants and guards doing their normal jobs. When I walked past them, most either didn't pay any mind to me at all or simply bowed their heads in greeting. I hoped to get to my room as quickly as possible, but of course, luck would have me stopped.
"Princess (Y/n)," I froze the second the stern voice reached my ears.
"Mrs. Mcneadly. Is there something you need?" I spun around, smiling the best I could at the old maid who stood behind me a few feet, her glaring eyes glued on me.
Mrs. Estella Mcneadly. A maid who has worked at this castle longer than anyone else. No one knows her true age and no one dares ask. Her pale tan skin was covered with dark freckles and her face was covered in winkles all over. I've never once seen her grey hair out of it's tightly done bun (I sometimes wonder if she even lets it down to begin with). Rumor says that hair use to be a beautiful shade of chocolate brown.
When I was little, she played the role of my nanny as she did for Ethan, Sienna, and later Brook. Mrs. Mcneadly is a stern women who has tough rules. Worst of all, she hates Hylians, and I mean hates. I've heard it has to do with mother's death, though, I keep myself from asking Mrs. Mcneadly herself.
I began to worry when she walked up to me, praying that she wouldn't be able to look right through me with her eagle eyes, somehow being able to find out I kissed a Hylian earlier. If she found that out, she'd kill me for sure, burying my body in the back garden where no one would find it under the roses and tulips.
She stopped once closer in front of me, holding out a small, skinny box," please give this to Liam. I tried looking for him earlier yet had no luck."
"To...Liam?" I asked, taking the box. My mind was so worried before, I couldn't think straight now.
"My grandson," she stated matter-of-factly, her expression of seriousness never changing," it's a picture of him when he was younger. I found it when going through boxes either. I though he'd have more use for it than I."
"I'll make sure to give it to him when I see him next," I nodded, smiling at her. She raised an eyebrow.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, Mrs. Mcneadly. I'm prefertly fine."
She stared at me for a moment longer, making my heart race to the point I thought it was going to pop. Finally, she turned, walking off," well, goodnight then, Princess (Y/n)."
"Goodnight, Mrs. Mcneadly," I called, standing there for a second before hurrying off down the halls towards my room like I was doing earlier.
Once making it into my room, I closed the door and sighed, my back leaned up against it. That whole time I thought for sure Mrs. Mcneadly wasn't going to let me leave unless I told her the truth. Thank goodness she left without interrogating me.
With my back still leaned on the door, I opened the box she gave me, smiling at the picture inside. It was one of Liam when he was a toddler. He sat with a cake place in front of him, one that had a bright blue '2' candle on top. I giggled at the fact that, back then, his hair looked as if someone had rubbed a balloon on it since it stuck up towards the sky.
"(Y/n)," there was a knock at the door, Sienna's voice coming from the other side.
I hurried to set the picture on my bed-stand where I wouldn't forget it, then I opened the door, seeing my sister standing there looking...annoyed.
"Sienna. Is everything alright? Did something happen when training the guards?" Usually, when she came to my room looking annoyed like so, it was because of something involving the guards. She liked to come and complain about how they weren't following the training plans correctly.
Surprising, she shook her head," where have you been disappearing to lately? You've been gone none stop in the last few weeks and when I came to ask you earlier, you weren't here again!"
"I'm sorry, I was at the Summer Harvest Festival," I reported, my eyes directing the other way. Great. So now I don't have to worry about Mrs. Mcneadly, but Sienna too...Wonderful...
"It's only been here today. You've been gone all week, remember? What were you doing then?" She pushed on, narrowing her eyes.
(No one's P.O.V)
Brook skipped along the hallways, a pretty colored pencil drawing in her hands. She had worked on it all day, making sure it was perfect. She always admired how well (Y/n) could draw, so she though, 'why not give it a try for myself and draw (N/n) something for a change?'. Freezing when hearing the sound of arguing, she quietly walked close to the corner of the hall closest to (Y/n)'s room, listening closely with a frown.
"I like to take walks around the Capital. Why are you concerned about it?" (Y/n) asked Sienna a question this time, crossing her arms.
"Because I'm your older sister! I have a right to know what you're doing and I don't believe that you simply 'take talks around the Capital'. You never did that before but all of the sudden, you do almost every single day. Stop hiding stuff behind our backs!"
"Who said I'm hiding anything from you guys?"
"I'm not an idiot, (Y/n). You're doing something when you disappear off to the Capital's everyday. If I need to send more knights with you every time, I will because I'm not letting you go get yourself hurt or worst out there," Sienna hissed, pointing a figure at her little sister.
"I won't be hurt out there. I'm 17, I can take care of myself!" she went to shut the door in Sienna's face, however, she stopped her, stepping farther into the room.
"Age doesn't mean anything. It's a dangerous world out there filled with dangerous people. You can be killed no matter how old or tough you are!"
"Oh, really? How do you know? I could be just fine out there!"
Sienna puffed up her chest, holding in all the cruel words she wanted to yell. Instead, she spun on her heel, marching out of the room after slamming the door wide open," fine! Then go get killed, see if I care!"
Brook pushed herself farther around the corner, bowing her head when Sienna marched past, not noticing the younger princess at all. After Sienna was a ways down the hallway, Brook hurried to (Y/n)'s room, standing in the doorway while holding her drawing close.
There, (Y/n) stood, her eyes closed and her fist balled. Tears ran down her cheeks; ones that were most likely those of sadness and anger.
Brook doubted (Y/n) knew she was there when older princess whispered," why can't things be different?"
"...(N/n)..." Deciding to make presence known, Brook stepped farther in the room.
"Brook, w-what are you doing here?" (Y/n) lifted her head, trying to clear away her tears yet gave up when realizing there was no use. Brook probably heard the argument anyways.
"W-When you go to the Capital...Do you g-go to see Link?" She sounded scared to ask, her voice quiet like a mouse.
There was a moment of silence, one were Brook stared at her sister without even blinking while (Y/n) directed her eyes to the side, hesitantly nodding,"...yes, we love each other after all..."
Brook sucked in a shaky breath of air, suddenly feeling a sickness in her stomach. Before she could say anything, (Y/n)'s eyes met hers, her voice desperate like a final prayer," but you mustn't tell anyone. Please, Brooke. You know if anyone finds out they won't let me see Link anymore. Promise me you won't tell a soul?"
Slowly, Brook found herself nodding, the sick feeling never leaving even when she pushed the words out," I promise."
