I shivered endlessly, trying to pull my body as close as I could in hopes to warm up even a little. When I couldn't bring my body any closer together, I would blow onto my hands which I had a feeling were turning red. Surprisingly, this cold hadn't been the worst thing of the night since Mathias had come back some point after (Y/n) had left, that time coming to do more than simply shame me.

He delivered several kicks to my stomach and arms, all while wearing a proud smirk. With every kick, I held in my screams, knowing it would only make this whole thing better for him. It wasn't until he kicked me my head downwards, digging his heel into the back of my neck and causing the chains to pull on my wrist, scrapping them farther, that I screamed.

I hardly had time to lift my head up before he kicked me across the face then, in a swifter movement, kicked my head backwards into the hard wall, the chains scrapping my wrist again. I remember thinking the second my head hit the wall that it was the blow that was going to kill me.

I made a sound close to a gag mixed with a gasp, spiting something but I didn't see what. My mind yelled at me that I was dead even though it also said I wasn't. I kept gagging, especially when Matthias felt the need to kick me in the stomach. I spit something up again. When I swallowed, I could taste both blood and puke.

I don't know when he left, it took a moment to get my eyes to focus right. A cold liquid ran down from my forehead and through the back of my head. No doubt it was also blood.

My head pounded, my arms and legs acked, all I could taste was irony blood...It's wrong, I know, but this pain belonged to Aryan. I don't really care how bad it is to think it, I want him in my place. He should be going through this, not me.

There was a 'click' of the cell lock, that's all it took for me flinch and glance upwards at the person. I prayed it was (Y/n) or anyone other than Mathias. I don't think the King would be happy if he killed me before tomorrow, however, who's to say the knight won't get carried away? To my luck, it wasn't him walking into the cell this time.

"Oh my god!" Liam was there, his eyes wide as he hurried to my side. The fact that that was his first reaction made me wonder how bad I looked chained and beaten.

"Liam? What are...you are doing here?" It burned my throat to talk.

"I'll explain on the way. We're rushed for time," he spoke quickly, cursing under his breath," Matthias did this, didn't he? He can't show restraint. All he does is act like he's higher than everyone else...

"Come on. We must hurry to the outer wall. The guard's here are switching. If they come back before we get out, we'll both be hung tomorrow," Liam brought a pair of keys out of his pocket.

I watched as he unlocked each chain, my arms and legs finally being free of the tight hold. My first reaction was to hold my wrist, hissing when I touched them. They were starting to blister.

"Hopefully there's a medical kit in the kitchens," Liam took notice of my wrists and ankles while carefully helping me stand, wrapping one of my arms around his shoulder and working to lean my weight on his," you good?"

I nodded," yeah, thank you..."

"Don't thank me until we're out of the castle. This could all still go downhill."

We'd stop at certain points, waiting until Liam began to walk, then I followed. I didn't know where we were most the time. The only place I could put a name to was the kitchens.

The whole place was empty and dark. The smell of cleaning products mixed with that of food filled the air. Cloths laid on the tables, most likely left there by the cooks after cleaning up the counters.
