"Odds & Ends"
I spent a major portion of my life in and out of facilities throughout Kentucky. Around January 05, 2001....Exactly 2 days after my birthday I had the opportunity to be introduced to "Millersburg Military Academy". On that same day I was enrolled into this program as a cadet.
While attending MMA I quickly moved up in rank and held a rank of Staff Sergeant, I was held responsible for all Alpha cadets. This meant making sure there chores where done, room was up to par for GI, hygiene & appearance where now held to a high standard by me with those cadets I held responsibility for.
I became part of the so called "Cool Group" which included Rahe(my roommate- one of the best artist I've ever met in my life) Hunsaker, Rebmann, Newet, Caldreon..Just to name a few. Most of us where of a higher rank at one point while at MMA. Rebmann, Became Lt Col. Rebmann. Which was a very high & respected position.
Today my friend, Rebmann, is in a Federal Penitentiary doing 30 yrs. At 85% he was convicted of 1 count distribution of fentanyl resulting in bodily harm or death. Without a doubt, it was clear to say that we were somewhat hmmmm... a little on the "wild" side. Some of these kids had went through MMA year in and year out. It became there home as it did mine as well. There was a brotherhood built between us as a group day in and day out.
This journey would only last close to 2 years. Both years, showing no regard, no care, and no respect whatsoever to the large sum of money invested by my parents to enroll me into this facility. I was kicked out for purposely getting caught smoking pot below the barracks. No questions asked, I knew exactly what I was doing. I wanted to go home, even if it was for a small amount of time.
The other instance got state troopers involved in regards to me assaulting another cadet whom had told on me for my involvement to breaking into the chow hall and getting food. The morning this took place I had "played sick" and taken myself to the infirmary because I had a bad feeling.
As I lay on one of the hospital style beds I noticed the cadets outside in formation. In front of the barracks. This wasn't a common occurrence. "For What?" The reason became clear it was to search each individual as well as all rooms & belongings. My roommate had forgotten to gets some of the food out of his footlocker is what got us caught, I knew I should of double checked and made sure he didn't leave anything behind.
(Pictured above is the barracks at MMI I was looking at this exact view point when they had all the cadets in formation directly in front of this building early that morning in 2003)
-------Writers note: I just fixed it but there were some places it was listed as MMI and some MMA...Honestly, It's a minor confusion because when I first started attending it actually was Millersburg Military Institute and later changed to Millersburg Military Academy. My apologies if this caused any confusion-------
The story continues below:
Well, it was too late for that now. Time to face the disappointment from my parents. Just as quickly as I left MMA. I was not only head over heels in love at the time, with my high school sweetheart. But soon to be head over heels in trouble as if I wasn't, So Guess what happens?.....
