unexpected turn of events

The musky smell reached my nose, and i slowly stir from my slumber, feeling the gentle nuzzles of my mate. Snaking his arms around my waist, koba pulls me against his chest, as he licks my shoulder. Wincing from the pain of of his dislodging knot, he pulls out of me, and i turn to look at him. He held guilt in his eyes, and i place my hand on his cheek, smiling at him.

“ no regrets,” i assure him.

He nods to me, and pulls our foreheads together, and i sigh into his embrace. We sit up from the bed, and i grabbed some of my mom’s old clothes, as i got myself dressed.

I had found an old duffel bag that was in mom’s closet, and used it to carry the things that i needed, and head out the door with koba. He had gone to gather our steed, as i had packed the things i needed, and was waiting near the road back home. With his help, we placed the duffel onto the horse's back, and he helped on after that. He sat behind me, and pulled the reigns of the horse, commanding it to start walking.

During the time as we traveled back, my head began to suddenly hurt, and at points i would lean against koba’s chest.

I didn’t think of it as anything bad, and just rested my head against koba, just as you do to get rid of any normal headache. The second occurrence happened, when we stopped to eat some lunch, that they had returned again.

‘ are you alright?’ koba asked me in sign worriedly.

“ yeah i’m fine, just a small headache,” i assured him and he nodded leaving me be.

We were only an hour and thirty minutes to the colony, until i suddenly became nauseous, immediately stopping koba. He stopped near the river, and i ran down towards the water, vomiting up most of my lunch.

Koba kept pestering me, asking me most of the time, if i was really fine.

“ i’m fine,” i keep assuring him but he wasn’t convinced.

We had arrived at the colony at around noon, and koba kept worrying about me, which was getting annoying on my part. After dinner that night, i had ended up throwing up again, and soon cornelia had noticed too. That night she asked me to join her at the waterfalls, and i agreed, meeting her at the river.

‘ are you feeling alright,’ she signs.

“ yeah i’m just not feeling that well,” i smile nervously.

‘ i hope you feel well then,’ she nods to me with a small smile and left once she was finished bathing herself.

Sighing as she had left, i sit inside the lake water, questions filling my brain.

‘ why am i suddenly feeling sick?’

‘ what should i do?’

‘ did i catch a stomach bug? But how could that be?’

The questions race through my mind, and i groan as i got out the water, grabbing my cleansing material bag. When i zipped open the bag, i noticed my period kit, and realization hit when i looked at my period calendar.

‘ i’m late,’ i thought shocked.

I quickly salvaged through my bag, taking out a pregnancy test, ‘ just to be safe.’

Flash back

Mom hands me the bag, small innocent smile on her face, when she saw my questioning look.

“ just to be safe,” she assures me, “ don’t want to get to surprised if you get pregnant.”

I sat patiently, waiting for the test as it was prepping, fear wracking my mind. The sudden beeping caught my attention, grabbing the test instinctively, i look at the stick. On the test, showed a plus sign, i felt like i was suffocating.

“ i-i’m pregnant?”
