Chapter Three
I had to walk to Abbie’s but it was okay as her house was just a ten minute walk. Once I got to the door, I walked in. I didn’t feel weird walking into Abbies house without knocking because it was like my second home, I was there all the time. I kicked off me shoes and headed up stairs to find Abbies door wide open, like it always is, where she was flicking through her weekly magazine. She looked up as I walked into her room.
In Abbie’s room there are paintings all over the walls, that she done herself. In-between paintings were pictures of all the crazy stuff she has done, mostly me, her and Mia.
Mia was Abbie’s best friend along beside me, but Mia was in a tragic car accident with her mum a couple of years ago. She was such a beautiful girl and was so popular at school. Mia was missed very much, especially by Abbie.
“Hey.” She said loudly.
“Hey,” I said back. “Did my mum phone?”
“No, but do you think she believed you when you said you were staying at mine?” I was now sitting cross legged on Abbies double bed and she had closed her magazine so we could talk.
“Emm, on the phone she didn’t sound to convinced, but if she didn’t believe me then she would never have agreed.” I was pretty sure about what I had just told Abbie but something didn’t feel right. Was it that I lied to my mum?
I started to fidget with my hands but stopped when I saw Abbie was watching.
“Just tell her that we just went to bed after you phoned and she won’t ask any questions like what we were doing.”
That would work, wouldn’t it? I nodded my agreement.
“Anyway what did you do last night, was your mum in?” Abbies dad was in London right now with work so it would only have been her and her mum.
“More like what did you do?” she winked at me and I rolled my eyes. It wasn’t like that with me and Seth and that was what I told her.
“Yea, but not even close?” she questioned. Abbies already had sex and she said that I need to as well before we go to college, but I told her maybe and ever since she’s been nagging me about it.
“No, Abbie. Im still not ready yet. Yea, I trust Seth its just…” I didn’t know how to finish my sentence. Why was it that I didn’t feel ready?
Abbie must have felt my discomfort as she changed the subject.
“Well, I watched movies with my mum while eating strawberry shortcake ice-cream. YUM. We watched The Notebook and The Last Song.” She said it with a smile on her face. I gave her a frown then started to giggle. The notebook was her all time favourite movie and she could watch it non stop if she got the chance.
“You know I love strawberry shortcake ice-cream! How could you eat it with out me?” Abbie giggled and stood up and left the room without saying a word.
A few minutes later Abbie came back up the stairs with a strawberry shortcake ice-cream tub and two spoons. I gave her a you-are-the-best look and she gave me a look to say I-know. Giggles filled the air between us.

After our ice-cream Abbie cleared up and followed me to the door. Abbies mum walked into the hall where I and Abbie were standing.
“Hiya Alice, I didn’t hear you come in, how long have you been here?” Gillian said greeting me with a hug. This was very like Gillian and she was such a lovely person.
“Oh not long, but im actually just leaving.”
“Aw that’s a shame, I haven’t seen you in ages.” To me it didn’t feel that long but I made a mental note to myself to stop by more often.
“I know, but ill see you next time im over.” I told her. Gillian nodded and headed back to the kitchen, I think she was making bacon because the smell filled the hall as she left the door open.
“What a way to suck up to my mum, A.” I slapped Abbie on the arm and laughed. I was always like this with Gillian and Abbie always made fun of me, I never knew why. After saying my goodbyes to Abbie I left and walked home leaving my car, it was a beautiful day and I wanted to walk.
