As we were walking around the lake, it started sinking in that we weren't going to see each other for a while.

"Abbey, what are we going to do. There's no way I can go a whole year without seeing you. " I said with tears streaming down my cheeks.

"I don't know Jody. But we'll figure something out. I promise." She said. She seemed very hopeful, unlike me. We walked to the other side of the lake and sat down on the bench. I looked over at her and noticed she had tears in her eyes. I leaned into her and she wrapped me in a hug. I'm trying to figure out something when I feel her shaking. I looked up at her and she's silently sobbing.

"Abbey, we'll figure this out I promise. We have to." I said.

"How Jody! I couldn't stand being away from you for a few hours let alone a year!" She said between sobs.

"I know for a fact, that I won't be able to see you for the rest of your summer break, because I'm going on a missionary trip in a few days." She said. That gave me an idea.

"Wait, Abbey that's it!! I'll go with you!! Then we have a whole month to ourselves!" I said with excitement.

"Wait, really? You'd do that for me?" She said with disbelief.

"Well of course I would! I love you, and I'd do anything for you baby!" I said with happiness.

"I love you too baby, but what about your mom? Would she let you come with me all the way to Africa?" She said in disbelief.

"Once she sees how much it means to me and makes me happy, there's no way she could say no!" I say with utter joy.

"Ok! Let's do it! We can get you packed and ready and I'll call and get you a plane ticket and you'll be set!" She says.

"Ok baby! Now come on let's walk back so they don't get suspicious again." We share a loving kiss that says everything we are feeling. Then we take off back to the tabernacle.

Once we were back in the tabernacle Abbey went and sat next to her sister and probably told her that I was going on the mission trip with them cause next thing I know she's looking right at me and then starts whispering back to Abbey. I turn to Kenzie and start telling her everything that just happened. She looked at Abbey the same way that Abbeys sister was looking at me. What are best friends for!

After service it was time to pack if you hadn't already, and get your shirt and say your goodbyes. Abbey had already told me that she was going to take me home so that she could talk to my mom with me about the mission trip. So after everyone left it was just Abbey, Becca (her sister), and me. I took Abbey aside.

"Baby, what did you tell her." I said more in a whisper so that Becca didn't hear me.

"I just told her that you were going on the mission trip with us. I also told her that the reason you were upset is because your really gonna miss being here." She said also slightly whispering.

"Then why does she keep staring at me like I just killed her dog or something." I said kinda sad.

"I have no idea baby. She'll get over whatever it is though. She's not one for holding grudges. I'm assuming that it's because I'm taking you on the trip without her permission or knowledge beforehand." She said.

She then went over to Becca. I assume to tell her that I've noticed her looks and that it was making me uncomfortable, because the next thing I know she's walking over to me.

"Hey, I'm Becca. We haven't be formally introduced. Sorry for the glares but I don't really like changes. Especially when they're last minute. But then again you just want to help so it's all ok!" She said with a smile. She held out her hand for me to shake which I did.

"Hi, I'm Jody! I'm very excited for the mission trip. I'm also nervous as well though, but I can't wait to help make a change!" I say with a shy smile.

"Well Becca we need to get going. It's already one in the afternoon. Her mom is probably wondering where she is. And we still have to convince her to let Jody go." She says looking at her watch. She hugs her sister and I wave goodbye at her. We get our luggage put in the back of her truck. We got in the truck and started towards my house.
