I looked up at the big Hogwarts-like school, gripping my bag tightly to my chest. Today was my first day of high school. I went to school in Italy, then was homeschooled when I moved back to New Jersey.

A bit of backstory: My name is Frank Iero. Frank Iero Jr., that is. Technically, I should be Frank Iero III, but my grandpa has a different middle name. I'm two feet tall, like everything metal and punk, and was raised in a catholic family.

And yes, I'm gay. Very gay. But I haven't come out to anyone yet because I know for a fact everyone will think I'm weird and not accept me, and only push me away.

I was born in Belleville, New Jersey in 1981. I moved to Italy when I was five because my parents wanted to "find the Italian Iero roots". The only thing I remember from living in Belleville from when I was five was hearing about some guy who's dad died of cancer was moving here from California, so he was the shit.

Anyway, so I moved back to Belleville about a year ago, but was homeschooled. So now, technically today's my first day of school, even though it's a Monday in September.

I was also late.

I sprinted into the building, then dashed through the halls towards what I thought was the art room, but then turned out to be a Freshman science class, which everyone thought I was a new Freshman. Embarrassing? Very.

I then finally found room 325.

I ran in, late as fuck. The only available seat was next to a guy with long, black, greasy hair and dark green eyes in the back of the room who stared down into his lap. Damn.

As I made my way over, this girl grabbed my arm. I turned to face her, just in time to see her kick her friend out of the seat next to her. She had long black hair as well, but also dark blue eyes, fake eyelashes, and lips that jutted out. She motioned for me to sit where she just threw her friend out of.

I gave her a disgusted look, since I was gay, but also because she was trying too hard. I then shrugged her hand away and sat down next to the boy.

Different people whispered around the room.

"Ew, he's sitting next to the freak."

"Oh god, poor kid, I hope he doesn't catch a disease sitting next to the goth fucker."

"He's going downhill fast, god."

You know what? Fuck them. I turned to the boy and gave him a smile. "Hi, I'm Frank."

He grinned, looking startled. "Oh, um, h-hi...I'm G-Gerard."
