"So you like art?" I asked.

Gerard nodded. "Yeah. I'm a nerd so I like art and comics, which also means I like to draw and make comics."

"Cool. You working on anything right now?" I eyed his dark red binder. He then opened it up. The inside was black and littered with different drawings. Some on paper, some on the binder itself. Some were on sticky notes, tucked neatly in his black pencil case.

He pulled a drawing out of the front pocket. It was of a pale man and woman, both leaning in as if they were about to kiss, sad looks on their faces. Both had blood splattered all over them and around them, on the black background.

"I'm going to be writing a comic called 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge', and I've gotten this done so far. It's gonna be the cover page." He added.

"Damn," I mumbled in awe. "That's cool."

"Th-Thank you." He grinned.

"I mean, I can draw and I think mine are pretty cool, but yours are amazing." I raised my dark eyebrows. "That's true art, my friend."

His pale cheeks turned a deep shade of red. I'll always remember that look. "Thank you...you're the first person to actually appreciate my art." His smile slowly faded, along with the red tint.

"In my opinion, it should be appreciated more." I tapped the side of the drawing. "That's cool as fuck!" He burst into giggles, a noise that I'll keep in my memory forever. It's not creepy.

I liked this kid. I liked Gerard.
