The quaint gloomy town of Feardom

I ended up seeing the town before Daniel did.

"Is that it?" I shout over the wind.

"What? Oh, it's just a bit further ahead." His faint reply barley making it to my ear before being swept away by the wind. He must not have heard me properly. Oh well, I might as well enjoy looking at the small town nestled between mountains.

Dark slate served as roads, little flowers glowed red, black, and yellow. Red brick houses rose out of the gloomy landscape, their dark, wooden doors shine in the flickering torchlight that served as street lamps. Small yellow, glowing stones lined makeshift gardens filled with dead trees and pools of lava. Human heads were impaled on stakes that stood near the doors, their faces holding unspeakable horror, twisted into snarls and grimaces.

I shudder, taking it all in, an entire town of this gloomy atmosphere. This was most definitely Hell, there was no doubt in my mind about that. Why would anyone want to do this? It was scary, it was horrific, and yet, some how, some way, I found myself loving this place. The terror any creature would feel at the sight of this place filled me. It tingled in my toes and fingers, sent shivers down my back, my hair stood on end, yet, for some strange reason I loved it. It was perfect for Fallen Angels and demons, absolutely perfect.

"Oh look! We can see it from here!" Daniel's voice snapped me back to the present, away from my musing.

I laugh, he didn't realize I already saw the town. "What's its name?"

"Feardom. Suits it, don't you think so? Why are you laughing?" Daniel stops flying and floats there, looking at me with a really confused expression.

"Never mind that." I calm down. "So its name is Feardom, eh? You're right, the name really suits it. Let's go meet someone!" I start to glide down towards the town.

"Wait! Mia! That's not where we're heading!" Daniel tugs on my arm before I get too far.

"Mia?" I raise my eyebrow. "Anyways where are we heading?"

"We're going to my house, it's not far from here." Daniel flew away from Feardom, expecting me to follow.

Yeah right. Like I'm going to follow a creep to his house. No way was I going to follow him, and Feardom looked so tempting. I wonder what kind of inhabitants live there.Only one way to find out!

Grinning with anticipation I finish gliding towards Feardom.

Landing softly on the slate road I look up and down the street, wondering where everyone was.

"Hello? Anyone there?" I shout, cupping my hands around my mouth to add to my volume.

I could literally hear crickets chirp somewhere, probably from a garden nearby.

"Must not be home, well then I guess they wouldn't mind me having a look around." I mutter to myself as I walk to a particularly gruesome and large house. I knocked on the door, which swung open. I jump back, startled.

That was unexpected. I laugh nervously as I tiptoe into the room.

The floor was thick with dust, I couldn't tell what color it was. A sofa sat in front of a cold and empty fireplace, spiderwebs decorating the mantel. Rats scurried through a hole in the wall and mildew covered the walls and something that looked like green mold was trying to grow in an upper corner.

Eww. I look around the disgusting room, crinkling up my nose as the awful barrage of smells hit it. My attention is caught by the corner farthest from where I stood.

A table, maps and thick looking parchments strewn around it, stood in that corner. A lit candle, tilt precariously on the side, sat heavily on a candlestick which was covered in thick amounts of wax. Two chairs, covered in thick dust guarded either side of the table. What really stood out to me was a dark looking person, wearing a black, hooded cloak, hunched over as he read the yellowed parchments.
