"Leader Jake? You don't mean-" I was cut off as someone pushed their way through the soldiers.
"What is the meaning of this?" Jake growled once he saw me. "Myria!"
He turned to the soldiers. "What are you doing pointing your weapons at my fiancé?" The sharp retort from Jake made the soldiers hurry to put their spears away.
"S-sorry, Sir! We thought she was an intruder." Someone shouted.
"Come along, Myria. I'll show you to your rooms, you'll be safe from these numbskulls here." Jake helped me up, tool my elbow, and led me from the room.
"But the person!" I tug back towards the room.
"Myria! What a foolish fledgling you are. There's nothing there for you, you'll meet anyone of importance later." he jerked me down a maze of halls and stairways.
It seemed like forever before he paused in front of a narrow, metal door. He pushed it open, revealing a small room - a broom closet really - with just enough room for a narrow bedroom to be pushed up against the furthest wall.
"Surely there's been some sort of mistake! This couldn't be my room."
"It is. You will be moved to a larger room after you become complete. I'll come back for you later." Jake turns away.
Balling up my fists, I gather up my curage. "About that - I'm not going to marry you."
Jake freezes. "What did you say?"
"I'm not going to marry you!"
Jack turns towards me, his eyes glittering with anger. I stare back.
I'm not going to marry someone I don't love! I can't back down on something so important!
"So, you think that some princely fallen will come and sweep you off your feet? You really are just like her! She chose Daniel over me and now you are too. I'm everything you need, I'm the one who'll love you! He left you, Myria! What do I need to do to get you to see that?" his voice rose as he struggled to keep his temper.
"It's not about Daniel! It's me! It's about me!" my own voice matches his own.
"I'm trying to save you! I'm thinking about you! Don't you see that?" his voice calms as he reaches ut to stroke my face. I slap him away.
"You're thinking about yourself then. I don't want to be saved if that means marrying you. I don't love you."
"You have no choice in this matter. You're only an inexperienced fledgling that has the mentality of a toddler, you don't know what you want or what's good for you. I know what's good for you."
"I'm pretty sure i have an idea of what's good for me." I cross my arms over my chest.
"Like I said, you have no choice in this matter. I have something in my power to control you." he holds up a braided leather band.
I gasp and my hands fly up to my hair. It really wasn't there!
"How;d you get that?" my eyes narrow as he starts stretching the band. I t felt like something, or someone, was pulling me as well, twisting me like fabric, a dull pain in my limbs as Jake stopped twisting the band. Sweat dripped down my face and I blinked to keep it out of my eyes.
"Oh? I"m sorry, did that hurt?" he grinned before pulling it even more, twisting it into a ball.
My knees buckle beneath my weight and I'm sent sprawling onto the floor. I curl into a ball, praying the pain would go away. My very essence was being tugged away from me.
You kow, all this pain can go away right now if you just say yes." The pain lessens a little and I get back up, to stare into Jake's cold eyes.
"Yes to what, you filthy pig?"
"Yes; you'll marry me."
"No."
Jake's eyes sadden before hardening. "Have it your way. I can wait forever for you, but how long can you withstand the pain?" he twirls around and stalks out of the room, slaming the door shut. I can hear him barking orders to some servents outside and the click of the door.
Locked.
I slide to the ground, clutching my sides - the agony had started again.
What do I do now?
